  1. Use a heat gun and count seconds then dip. Add or subtract seconds until you get the right count for the second coat to go on. Once you do that then you have a repeatable formula.
  2. Of all the heads that I have tried in the last month I like this one the best. It really has a good vibration. However, it wants to run shallow. A couple of days ago I was fishing a rocky 45° bank parallel. The fish were around cover in 7-9 fow. I was using 1/2 oz baits with a 2 tab living rubber skirt and a split tail trailer. My baits on the old Hilts spinner bait would stay down and bounce off the cover. When I would use the Trokar bait it would rise up in the water column and not hit the cover like I wanted it to do. Should I bend the blade on this bait to help keep it down? If so, what direction?

I use a Gammy hook. I do not remember the number and can not look it up as I am in my camper waiting for daylight so I can go fishing. It is on Barlow's list.
  4. Which way do you bend them Mark.
  5. Does bending the blade have any effect on how it works? I have made a bunch lately using swing jig heads, football heads, banana heads, poison tail heads, spinner bait heads and Troker swim jig heads. I just haven't been able to be on the water enough to figure out which I like best and whether or not to bend the blades and if so forward or backward.
  6. I'd like to see some pics of the double hook with trailers. It sounds interesting.
  7. I used to get mine from Stamina Inc.
  8. I'm not questioning your expertise in this situation just stating a fact. I have poured these heads for over a decade and have experienced no problems.
  9. I pour weedless tube jigs all the time with coated cable (Surflon 90#). I have never had an issue with hollow heads.
  10. I use Surflon and Sevelon coated 90#. Works great.
  11. You can do like Les or you can make a mixer out of a wire clothes hanger then stir it with a drill.
  12. X2 and I have painted some nasty looking heads that have been poured for several years.
  13. If it is powder paint do a search for Cadman and his tapping method. He gets amazing results.
  14. OK so it is through the bottom hole like I thought it should be. I even zoomed it to 200 % and had my wife look at it. We both thought you were just holding it up to the blade. Thanks. I've got one old single spin cut off ready to be hooked up when my stuff gets here.
  15. Thanks guys. I have a few molds that either are made for flat eye hooks or I have modified them to take that hook. Whether I need 1 or 2 split rings I ordered enough to last most of the rest of my life. I have blades, tape, duo lock snaps, and split rings on the way. I won't be able to work on them for a couple of weeks as I am taking my wife on a driving vacation to Oregon. I also have a bunch of old spinnerbaits that I can experiment with. BIG D how is that bait in the pic attached to the blade. I think I can see the whole wire.
  16. I have been looking at chatter baits offered by various companies. There seems to be no set head shape. I don't plan to use a lot so I won't be buying a new mold at this time. What general head shape would you guys recommend? I've been thinking maybe poison tail or banana but what about football? Have any of you guys hung a blade on a swing jig head?
  17. Thanks guys. I've got some fall ideas for it and have never made them yet.
  18. I plan to make up a few as my swim jigs aren't working well this year. I have been looking around at components but don't know what sizes to get. So here are a few questions for you guys. 1. Blades... regular or bubble holes 2. Blade size 3. Split ring size 4. Locking snap size 5. Best place to buy components 6. Anything I have over looked and need to get
  19. If you are fishing in a bright moon, don't discount an all white spinner bait with white blades. I've caught a bunch on Bull Shoals using it at night in the moon.
  20. Jacob's stinger is all that I need.
  21. If it will fit in the mold go for it.
  22. shake or stir until well mixed.
  23. I use glow once in a while. It only works with light colored baits like lime, chart, white, and florescent orange.
