  1. Apdriver you were right heat is my friend on this. By doing the light color first I can heat the darker hotter and get a good shoot. Most of the claws have been shooting the second color just fine when the plastisol is good and hot. I'm still going to file a few vent lines in the off side of the mold. Thanks again for the info. I've had this mold for a couple of years and have never been able to get good lams.
  2. Thanks. I went to the garden shed and got a piece of soffet material left over from a tornado rebuild a few years ago. I fashioned a plate from it and it works flawlessly except I'm going to have to vent the off side as I am shooting both at the same time so I can have 4 halves at a time. I'm thinking a thin line with a triangular file would be enough of a vent. What do you think?
  3. I have a craw injection mold that will not laminate no matter the heat or color. They make a nasty mix, not even a swirl. I've been using aluminum foil to seperate the halves but I have to keep replacing it. Where can I look at buying something?
  4. Derek I use a lot of living rubber. The collars are a pita so I wire tie them. It is way easier and actually faster than trying to use a collar. I was a big collar fan a few years ago. I got a new Poison Tail mold and bought several hundred silicone tabs. Needless to say I made way too many jigs in too many colors. I pulled one of them out this summer and the band broke after a couple of casts. So I pulled out all of my jig boxes and tied them with wire. Now they may last as long as I will. Floral wire in 24 ga will work or you can buy copper.
  5. When I have a mold that won't pour I spray it with Frankfort Arsenal Drop Out spray.
  6. I toss mine in a pan of water and let them cure that way.
  7. I wire tie mine. 24 ga copper wire, wrap, twist, cut, done.
  8. I've done it. The salt settles to the bottom as the plastisol melts. You have to keep it stirred.
  9. I bought ones that the nozzle just slips into. If I were doing it again I'd buy some that had a locking mechanism so I couldn't shoot them into my nor por cups like I sometimes do.
  10. I find them easier to use than the Pyrex, but that's just me. I don't know anything about a twinjector. I believe Frank has some videos using them. I don't get lots of bubbles but I heat by short bursts and do a lot of stirring.
  11. That is a personal decision. I have both and like the Nor Por better.
  12. Yes I can Mark. The foam is almost as pliable as the nor por cups. I always pinch the cup when doing open pours on my craws and trailers.
  13. My coozies are made of some foam I had. I doubled it and used gaffer tape to seal off the bottom. It allows me to pour or inject since I use the teflon cups.
  14. I use nor por silicone cups and have made insulated jackets that I can put them in to keep them warm longer when I am shooting small baits with only one mold.
  15. I get those from Barlow's.
  16. There is a whole thread on this subject. Check it out. I tried to copy a link to it but the site wouldn't let me do it.
  17. Thanks. I have to order some worm hooks from the Captain as I don't need 1000 of 3 sizes for my swing jigs and the Cap will sell 500 at a time. So I'll go back to where I was with the L2798.
  18. I am not familiar with the 2870 and it is listed with an extra long wire to hook eye. Will that hook fit the molds that I use the L2798 in?
  19. You only need molds for the baits you make. I have 4 sizes of craw molds, 1 stick bait mold, and 4 tube molds. That is about all of the soft baits that I use. However, I am getting a creature mold in a while.
  20. I'm only ordering the 4/0. smalljaw are you interested in any of them? If so how many?
  21. Thanks guys. I have been using some EC hooks in the last year or so and like them but not familiar with those. I just hated to order 1000 and then them not be what I wanted. I may not live long enough to use up 1000 of them but I'm sure going to try. I'll order them from Shorty's Monday.
  22. I have the Mustad 32798NPBN. It is about time to reorder and I'm wondering if the Eagle Claw L2798 is similar and would be a good alternative seeing the price difference. These are for personal use and for friends only.
