  1. I tie from 1/32 to 1/2 oz. I use mostly round heads but for the larger ones I have to go to the bullet because I don't have a 3/8 or 1/2 cavity in any of my round head molds. I don't see any difference in the functionality of the two types. I sometimes flatten the round to an aspirin shape for a little faster fall.
  2. I agree with smalljaw. His idea is similar to what I do when taking line off reels. It should work great for you.

    First Tie

Lately I've been using green enamel fluro wire from Hobby Lobby. It is 24 ga. I do one wrap only snug then check the skirt. I spread it where needed then tighten that wrap do 2 more, pull with pliers to tighten, twist, and cut off tags.
  4. Maybe it is time to call the mfg and let them know about your problem and see what they say.
  5. I just go to a place like fishing skirts . com and pick a few hundred out and order them.
  6. I use my bench vise. It is not the most convenient but gets the job done, but I only tie up to 1 oz.
  7. Don't bother with the Google. I called them. They don't have any made up and want a minimum order of 1000 to make some.
  8. You can get the wire rig with swivels already attached at Battlefield Wire, Battlefield MO. They run about $2 each. I used to make my own till I found out about them. Now I buy the wire forms and mold the head.
  9. A release agent should help with the sticking.
  10. Yes it does. The only problem I had was when my wife saw what I had done to her pans.

    Jig Paint

I dip mine in my fluid bed and powder coat them like my jigs.
  12. I got my first craft hair through a group at Dale Hollow Lake. They use it for FnF to catch winter smallies. I have also bought some at hobby stores.
  13. I don't know that it is cheaper but craft hair works pretty well.
  14. I think that pot will be too hot and not give you any control over delicate temps. Have you considered using a microwave. They usually are cheap enough.
  15. For large pieces I use a cast iron pot and my fish deep fryer. Melt it down and cast it into ingots using my wife's muffin pans.
  16. I also have one of those. I haven't found anything better to use than a crane. I have tried barrel but no better for me. As for losing blades you may need to upgrade your split rings or be more careful when you install them. Do you have a good pair of split ring pliers?
  17. I tried a few brands and gave up on them. I switched to nor por silicone and don't use the pyrex except for swirls.
  18. I used to make my own but decided to get some preformed wire from Battlefield Wire Products. Theirs are cheap and way better than any of the wires that I had used. I'm not sure what little tubes you mean. You need some clevises for the blades and maybe some beads. Check out Jann's, Barlow's, Ztackle, etc. for that stuff.
  19. I can't say one is better than the other. I have caught fish on lots of different scents. I used to make my own but have switched to CB's Hawg Sauce. I have it in 3 scents.
  20. I use one drop of pumpkin seed and 1 drop of motor oil to two oz of plastisol.
  21. I got mine from Cadman.
  22. Your softer problem may be hardner settling out of the plastisol. You have to mix mix mix it before use. If not then you need hardner. Also buy some heat stabilizer and use it on remelts. Also remelts do better with short bursts (20, 30, 45) seconds with lots of stirring in between.
