Sounds like a winner to me toad. There are some I'd like to make and never use often enough to own the mold.

If I am only painting a few heads, I use my heat gun. If I am painting several I hang them in my toaster oven and heat them a dozen at a time.

I had issues with a couple of cavities with my PT molds. I polished them and cracked them and nothing did a good job until Cadman put me on to the mold release spray (Frankfort Arsenal Drop Out). Now they work like charms.

I've done some similar with stainless wire. They were more pain than gain.

A little wobble won't hurt them. We used to have a local spinnerbait made from plumbers lead. The wire would work loose and the whole thing would wobble. I never had one come apart. However, they sure would get butt ugly after used a while. The fish didn't seem to mind at all.

I use it on jigs and spinnerbaits over the eyes. It does a descent job and like you stated it's cheap.

If you can't find what you want try a little solder. That is what I use to make my single spins thumb more.

Contact your local conservation department. Lots of them have kids fishing programs.

70/30 or 72/25 would be a starting place then adjust to suit your self.

We've made stuff similar and tried it for crappie but had no luck. Other fish but no crappie. Maybe we should use the road runners like you have in the pic.

I've been using Crazy glue in the bottle with a brush in it. It has worked fine for me and hasn't left the residue like super glue.

There are several jig makers here on the forum who might sell you heads either painted or unpainted or you can look as Lure Parts on line, Jann's Netcraft, or Barlows for precast jig heads. www.fishingskirts.com has a good selection of skirt materials. Craft stores sell copper wire that you can use for tying. All you will need is a vice to hold the jig and a couple of pairs of pliers to pull the wire tight then some side cutters to trim the wire. I think you should buy painted heads for a while until you get the feel on making the jigs. I'd also like to see you buy them without the weed guard installed as it is easier to glue it in last after the skirt is on.

When I use salt I use Kosher salt then grind it in a coffee grinder until it is powder. When you put salt in you need more colorant and you have to keep it stirred because the salt goes straight to the bottom.

I'm not what not somewhat handy and built a fluid bed with Cadman's instructions. If you don't know what type of jigs you want to make, I suggest you go to the Do-It site and have a look at their molds. Once you decide on the type you can purchase from them or many other places. Take a look at fishingskirts.com for skirts, weedguard, skirt tools, etc. Captain Hooks for hooks. You'll also need lead and a way to melt it. I like the Lee pots with the bottom pour spout.

I have modified molds to accept 90# steel leader for weedguard. The way I did it was tape a wire where I want the weedguard to be and close the mold. Then I tighten it way down I a vice. I press it a couple of times and see if my leader will fit. If it doesn't I increase the size of the wire and do it again till I get it right. I have also cut slots with my dremel tool but like the other way better.

That means that you have been playing nice as most of the guys on here do. Just get into a fuss and watch your points.

I too use round nosed pliers.

You can look at the soft plastics cook book at the top of the forum and get all the recipes you will ever need.

I usually use regular cooking oil when I need something like that. I spread it with a Q Tip. Pam seems to make lots of air bubbles.

The reason I asked if it happens to be jigs is like Bob I only use feathers instead of deer hair on trebles.

I don't know either. But what ever it does, I wouldn't need more than a couple of them.

What are you tying them onto. If it is jigs, you will get more response in the wire bait section.
