  1. I'm not sure what you mean by plate source. If you are talking about the bottom where you glue down the pvc then try a lowe's for some lexan scraps. Mine cost a couple of bucks and is about 10x12.

    2mm Eyes

When I told my wife about this she pulled out a set of eye glasses screw drivers. One is itty bitty and may work a lot better than my knife. Thanks again.

    2mm Eyes

When you say pick, is it that thing that they call a bodkin? I have already decided to make my round heads more aspirin shape before I paint anymore that are getting these kinds of eyes. Thanks for the suggestions.

    2mm Eyes

I have gotten tired of painting eyes on my jigs so I decided to buy some different sizes of eyes and give them a try. I thought the 2mm would make good pupils for my round head white bass and crappie jigs. Since they were inexpensive I bought 1000 of that size. They have been a challenge to work with. I have tried several ways to pick them up and put them on jig heads. The best I have found so far is a small knife, using it to pick them up on the tip of the blade. I have also found that they are so small that the adhesive is often not enough to hold them in place when I brush epoxy over them. So what I am doing now is painting the head with a coat of clear hard as nails polish, quickly applying the eyes, letting it dry then putting on the epoxy. This has become time consuming and labor intensive. I'm glad I'm not trying to sell them as no one would want to pay what I'd have to have. If any of you guys have what you think would work better please share it with me.
  5. It also makes it easy to do laminates when you are filling from the side.
  6. I have a mold that the pins won't fit in the smaller slots so I use 12 g romex with a piece of duct tape to hold it in place in the mold.
  7. I don't paint mine but hate it when the get the tip closed up and I am in a hurry to rebait. So I string mine on a wire in the tackle box to keep the holes open. Maybe you could make a rack where you could string them up before baking.
  8. It is just black and bubble gum. I have never tried to make a 3 color one. I don't think it could be done very well. I use 2 injectors with a blending block for lams.
  9. I have always kept mine in an unheated garage. If you have kids I don't think inside the house would be a good idea as there is no telling what they might do with it.
  10. I have the Jacob's mold. If you only want just a few, I might make them for you. But if you get the mold you won't have just a few. I probably have close to 1000 of them laying around in the shop and I'm fixin' to make some more if it rains on Monday.
  11. Seems to be fixed and running good today.
  12. It is very slow for me and has been for several days.
  13. Thanks, I hadn't thought of the keel effect. I can give that a try as I have over 2 dozen of the things to experiment with.
  14. Yes I make them and have enough to try out several ideas. It shouldn't be long till they start to produce again. They were incredible last spring on large white bass. Sometimes we would double up and that was a hoot to have a couple of 3# whites on the end of the line.
  15. Here in MO we are only allowed 3 hooks so the 5 wire A-Rig has to be modified. Last spring I ran 2 willowleaf blades with 3 baits to be legal. My problem is I never can tell where the blades will be on a retrieve. Sometimes they are on top and sometimes on the bottom. I have moved them around where they are side by side and with a bait between them. Nothing has helped. Anyone got any ideas as to how to get them to run better.

    Hair?

Rodney, I haven't bought any for several years but I bought mine from Stamina Inc for a long time. I have always been satisfied with them.
  17. I use braid or flat waxed fly thread.
  18. I buy from various places depending on what I want and am making at the time. Shorty's Hook Sales Do It Bears Lure Craft Jann's Net Craft Barlow's Stamina Inc. Ztackle.com just to name some of them.
  19. I have JB in a jig mold that I modified and got drilled too deep. It has been there for over 10 years and thousands of jigs have since been poured through that mold. I have one mold that I don't like the collar on but cast then take the lead off the hook shank. I cut it with gate cutters, flaten it with pliers then twist it off. That way I still have the collar if and when I want it.

    Skirts Ties

Look at hobby or hardware stores for 24g or similar. I use old windings from a burned out table saw motor.
  21. I have no knowledge of what Wally has. I make mine from 90# sevelon or surlon from Cabela's or Bass Pro. It is a coated cable and works great.

    Introduction

Welcome to the site Marc. I have been here for several years and am still amazed at the knowledge base that is present here on this site. Lots of us powder paint and use fluid beds but, Cadman is the powder paint guru around here.
  23. Since I don't sell jigs and like to buy hooks by the 1000 ct., I try to keep it simple. I use 2/0, 3/0 and 4/0 only. I use 2/0 for 1/8, 2/0 or 3/0 for 1/4, 3/0 for 3/8 and 4/0 for the rest.
  24. I don't know if this will work for you or not. Before there were things like the parasite clips a friend of mine used to fashion clips and attach them to hooks for Stacey King. He wrapped the wire and hook shank with thread then superglued it. I have some of his hooks and the thread attached wire goes no where.
