  1. I don't use salt much but when I do I use Kosher salt and grind it into a powder in a coffee grinder. I have to keep it stirred as it sinks to the bottom. I have never had it clump or burn.
  2. I don't do that much at a time but I put my pyrex cup back in the micro while I am waiting for the molded plastic to setup. I give it a 30 second shot and stir it to check out its viscosity.
  3. I mostly use red/black/silver/green/blue/copper/holographic and shad.
  4. They don't get anything except powder on them because they are not hot and it wipes right off with a paper towel when I get done with a color.
  5. I keep the paint out to begin with. When I dip a jig I hold he eye with a pair of needle nose vice grips. They keep the paint from getting on the eye and by using a low temp and fluid bed I get a thin coat of powder so it doesn't run when cured in the toaster oven.
  6. Petroleum jelly, salt, garlic powder but not worm oil. Give it a try.
  7. Maybe you should buy the valve. I have a $9 Wally air pump and I use a lot of HF paint. I don't get much in the volcano line but when I turn on the air I stir the paint with a popsicle stick and it floats and does just fine.
  8. Wooly for the smaller jigs I taper down my pin slot with duct tape and use electrical wiring for pins. I buy fg 12 from Ztackle and don't have to do the seperating thingy. It is a bit more costly but I am not in the selling business so I don't use more than a hundred or so each year.
  9. I'm sure that will work. That is a lot more work than I have done. I'm lazy and just mixed some salt and garlic powder into unscented petroleum jelly. I can gom it on a jig and it will stay on all day.
  10. Once again a slick way of doing things Frank. However, I would have liked to see the finish product.
  11. I have done it both ways but prefer to pour. I get a better bait that way and I can do lams and swirls.
  12. I don't like smoking molds but did on one of my poison tail molds. It just wouldn't pour any other way (even cracking it). It works fine now. I smoked it and wiped all the stuff off the flat surfaces. I left the cavities smoked. It is cheap and if it works you won't have to buy anything.
  13. Another thing you can do is put the jigs in snack bags a half dozen at at time. Then when you go fishing drop a sack on the curteosy dock for some other guy to find and have. I do that with my excess jigs and homemade plastics once in a while even a crank or top that I don't use.
  14. I've never done anything except put them in a cardboard box and put them on a shelf in the garage closet. I have never even considered anything happening to aluminum while not in use.
  15. I really hope you come up with something squig. I have quit borrowing the 1/16 oz mold as it takes me a very long time with a lot of remelts to get 50 heads. I'd like to borrow it again with a workable plan and make a couple of hundred for FnF to use on crappie but not the way it has been in the past. Keep us posted.
  16. A couple of friends have them. I have borrowed them and they are the hardest to pour molds that I have ever used. I have my best luck in the hot summer time for some reason or other. Both of those molds are smoked and I even heated the hooks sometimes. Good luck. If you come up with something please post it.

When I use thread I get flat waxed from BPS. It is really strong and comes in lots of colors.
  18. I keep all of mine in their original boxes in the garage closet next to my work bench where I make my baits. Some of them have been in there for many years and I have never experienced any problems with them.
  19. I have been ordering from their wholesale place Shorty's Hook Sales for years. That is the only place I buy hooks.
  20. I have had no success like you. So I glue my wg in after painting and curing.
  21. Big old brown paper grocery sacks not itty bitty lunch bags.
  22. Most of my filters are brown paper grocery bags.
  23. Are you sure your thermometer is correct? I get power paint to melt in only 5 minutes of heat time in the toaster oven. Then I cure for 20 minutes at 325.
  24. Here are a couple of things I do for drips. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. 1, I run a piece of spinnerbait wire up the hole to clear it out and increase the flow. 2. Heat the spout with a propane torch then open it up and let some lead flow out.
