  1. I think cadman has a complete tutorial that he might email you on how it is done. I'm pretty sure I have seen it mentioned in other posts. Maybe he will see your request and get in touch.
  2. I have never checked the resin but it gets too hot to touch in just a few minutes. Can you tell me why you want to know?
  3. Another one of your good ideas has come through Frank. You sure do have a high MacGyver IQ. BTW: I finally have gotten around to some winter injecting. I did as you said and brought the molds in the house the night before. I made a bunch of tubes yesterday and they injected flawlessly into room temp molds. The molds never got hot enough for me to that to put the gloves back on when I was demolding. That sure beats handling all of the hot stuff that I did last time I was making tubes. Thanks for the video and tips on that subject.
  4. I was shooting tubes today and got in a hurry on one set. I didn't have one of the clamps tight enough and the injector wasn't smooth enough so I gave it a good plunge. Now I have pumpkin seed plastic from my chest down to my shoes. I'd really like to save the jeans. How do it go about getting this stuff out and not ruining my wife's iron and ironing board or washer and dryer?
  5. You can do it either way and it works. I preheat mine in the oven about 18 at a time. Most of the time I can't get them all painted without rewarming for a few minutes. Then I close the door and bake them all at the same time.
  6. brown paper sacks, vaccum cleaner filters, coffee filters
  7. Dave you were right. I tried several items including WD40, oil, & acetone. None of them did much good. I finally used my Dremel with a brush and got the plastic out of the cavities. They were so rough that after I tried a couple of pours, I deep sixed it and have started all over. This 3 day event was only supposed to take an hour or so. I sure am glad that I am between jobs and don't have anywhere special to go.
  8. and it did today. I have been making my own resin molds for several years and today I made a small grub mold. I had a lot of trouble getting the baits to glue down right and when I finally got the last one down I mixed up my Bondo and as I was pouring it in I remembered that I hadn't oiled the baits. Now I have a bunch of baits stuck in the mold. Any ideas on what I can use to get them out and not mess up the mold?
  9. I make my resin molds from Bondo that I get at the auto parts store. I glue baits down in nonstick pans. Then I spray them with cooking oil and pour the resin over them. I go away for 24 hours to let it cure thoroughly, come back take the mold out, take the baits out, smooth edges with the Dremel and pour some baits. The only draw back is one side is flat but the fish don't seem to mind at all.
  10. Thank you for getting back to me and taking my order for the 2 molds. I am anxiously awaiting them. I already have 2 but that is not enough to keep me shooting.
  11. I'd like 2 of the tube molds. I have your site up but don't see a way to order so, I'll give you a call.
  12. He did not ask if it were pretty or worked really well. He just asked what we use. I use a hot glue gun. It is kind of crappy looking and doesn't always work, but then again I don't sell my jigs and those itty bitty brained fish don't care what they look like.
  13. Just remember that if it has salt in it you must keep it stirred. The salt will go to the bottom and stay there.
  14. Shorty's for me also. They have the fastest service I have ever seen.
  15. Cadman might know but I'd venture a guess that it would be many hundreds if done in a fluid bed.
  16. I've had some success with cardboard cutouts. I hold the jig head under the one I want and like Jim stated, tap paint with a brush onto a hot head.
  17. I don't get much of a rise in my paint until I stir it a bit. It seems to really settle out in the garage.
  18. If you mean fluid beds for power painting I use brown paper sacks from the grocery, coffee filters and vacuum cleaner filters depending on what it takes to make the paint float. If you are talking about something else then disreguard the post.
  19. I have 60' of the 20# coming from Jann's. It should be here mid week. I see what size jig I think it will work on. I may still need the 10# for the 1/16 oz and lighter. I'll get back in touch if I need the 10#. Again thanks for the advice and the samples.
  20. Super Glue Gel works for me. I use it all the time.
  21. That does help. Thanks. Where can I get the 10#?
  22. I tried the 10# on the 1/8 oz heads today. It was passable but a bit too weeny for the 1/8. I think it would be great on the 1/16 and lighter. JSC can you tell me where I can buy some 10 and 20?
  23. I bought a cheapie from BPS and mounted it on a broken rod and an old reel that a guy gave me. It does a pretty good job.
