b75, I mix the same amount of epoxy to clear 2 baits, then add 5 drops of denatured alcohol. It is enough to cover 3 baits without getting tacky. I hope that makes sense.
I install all my lips prior to painting and just remove the masking tape before the clearcoat step. 1 thing you can do is put a small piece of tape on the end of the lip so no epoxy marks get on the lip from you fingers. It really sucks to find you finger prints on lexan lip.
When I do thru wire (not often) I draw the bait pattern on scrap hardwood. Then hammer in finish nails where I want the loops and bends (clip off the heads) and you are all set.
Just bend the wire around the nails and crimp the loops and it's ready for glue.
I like the windex/water mix at 50/50 for all cleaning. I take my brush apart about every two months to clean with a brush. But I do go thru a lot of windex to make sure I'm not getting any build up. Make sure you back wash the tip by holding your finger over the nozzle and shooting a little air. That will blow out any left over paint. This works for me.
Gravity feed Iwata eclipse and I love that brush.
Mark, if the trigger is sticking, 50/50 windex/water, put a little in the stem and work the trigger. Then re-attach air and shoot, fixes mine every time.
Sounds like you were shooting too much paint with too much air pressure. With transp and flor. paints you have to shoot very thin layers and build up to the level of color you want. I've done that same thing 100 times, it's part of the learning curve.
