  1. I use Western Red Cedar, would love to try some White Cedar but can't find a source.
  2. Vodkaman, you nailed right there in your post. Everything he needed to know was in those pics. The old school guys that used to be on this site would give you a little hint and then expect you figure some things out on your own. I guess I'm one of the old school guys now. I expect the new guys to do a little work and make a few mistakes. If this is not being polite then so be it.
  3. Why not take a little time and try to figure out a thing or two own your own. Sorry if that sounds not nice but you will learn a lot of info from a failure or two.
  4. balsa wood in medium to heavy weight.
  5. I find that the simple color patterns catch lots of fish, but you need to jazz those up a little if you want to catch the fishermen. Something as simple as shooting scales on bait or adding some glitter to clearcoat will sell a lure but I don't think that makes more appealing to the fish. But what do I know, I just sit here looking at Rookie's, Dean's, Blades', Blackjack's, Tiggers', and Dampeoples' baits and drool on my keyboard.
  6. Pearl white body, silver misted on shoulders, payne's grey scales, irides blue misted over scales, black down center of back, transp rose on the throat.
  7. You can most certainly build a crank to get down to 25 feet and still float. The trick is to use a long enough lip and make sure everything is balanced. That is all there is to it, no different than building a shallow crank. You will have to switch the line you normally use to a thin dia. braid. The real trick is being able to cast a 1oz bait far enough to get down to depth with 3+ inch long lip sticking out of the nose of your bait.
  8. If I'm not mistaken, Brian's deep cranks have straight lips. I find baits with straight lips kind of dead at any depth. Maybe braided line would be a better opiton for deep cranking. Might reduce the effects from line stretcha and resistance.
  9. That looks like a bunch of Circut Breaker cranks, where did you find sample baits like that. TClark would be a good one to pick for the job.

Man that is SICK! Are the gill plates done with just shading? Your painting skills make my little baits sad:)
  11. I hope so, if not I'm spending alot money and wasting time on painting.

    Fun with foil

I'm gonna guess that is colored foil, but either way a great looking bait. A very cool idea I must add.
  16. That's one good looking lure (Go Tigers)
  17. heat set the paint between coats, and no need to thin c-tex. That is just adding more moisture the layers of paint you are spraying.

    Panfish

I don't know about the paint but the craftsmenship on those baits is awsome. Just messing with you bro, I'm going to have to send you some of my baits for painting;)
  22. You are suppose to have the bait hanging out of the side of it's mouth. Very nice fish and even better on you own work.
  23. Creek, who makes the bait? I've got a pick of the old Heddon Punkinseed that you can resize to what ever deminsions you want. PM me an e-mail address and I'll send you that pic.
