  1. Seal Coat turns waterbased paint into melted wax, you can watch it run. Sterling, I wish you would have told me you were going to try it, I would have steered you clear of that mess. I'm feeling like a lonely solider, I still devcon 2T. Maybe one day I'll clean my shop and then I can try D Nite's clear.
  2. devcon 2ton takes about 10 hrs to fully cure and it does yellow when exposed to heat (high summer temps in you car or boat), no need to thin but it starts curing in about 7 min after mixing. I can usually coat 2 baits per mixed batch. I cannot comment on any other clears as this is the only one I use.

    1 1/2" UL crank

John, that one looks to run shallow. That is exactly what I had in mind when we last talked. Very nice work there, how's the action.

    2" crankbait

John, that is a little money bait for sure. I flat wore the fish out on one that size this past spring. That color combo looks very good.

    Plate-o-Baits

John, you are making me hungry:) Those are some great looking baits.
  6. good luck with your search, I've been looking for a supplier for Paulownia, Jetulaong, and White Cedar for over a year. Let me know if you find please.
  7. Try using a different brand of paint, I can spray all of wildlife colors pearl paints but 1 with my .35mm tip and air pressure of 18 psi.

    1 1/2" Ultralight cranks

I like the ul cranks and those look real good to me.

    2" shad cranks

John, those are some fine looks cranks.
  10. the bait looks great, practice more on taking the pics;)
  11. start with an 1/8oz in the lowest part of the belly and adjust from there.
  12. If you got the money, these boys have got the skill and the paint to meet your needs. Take a look in the gallery section and send out some PM's to see how is looking for a little business.
  13. I use a wheeled marking guage to put carving lines on my baits.
  14. Walleye, you will want to find a different clear to use. Devcon will can really mess up the weight and balance of plastic baits. If you want to use devcon, do it on a bait you don't like first and then test it.
  15. SmokeyJ, come on that prop is special made to fit in that popper mouth. You may have a real hard time finding those in bulk. I need someone to teach me the trick of getting the blades to counter spin, I can never bend the rear blade to the correct pitch.
  16. Pretty bait, I want to say the lip angle is too steep, I cut mine at 76 degrees. I also think you should leave the weight out of the tail. I build small swim baits 5.5 inch long down to 3.5 inches so might weighting issues are different.
  17. I don't think you will get the spit if you have a prop in front of the popper mouth. the props should spin freely and churn up the water, I fish mine like a buzz bait when the action is real fast.
  18. Back the needle out just a little and see if that helps.
  19. now your getting into my fav. size of bait, great looking paint on these two.

    ul balsa baits

here is a batch of ul cranks and 1 jerk bait.
  22. painter's choice sandable primer
  23. Eyes-go to any arts and craft store and look at the eyes in the doll section. tons of them to choose from. I make a smaller swim bait 5.5 inches long, and I cut the sections first and then carve. But you idea is very interesting.
