You can get a good result from dark transparent colors of the iridescents and flip/flop colors. Looks really good when shoot thru netting. Just don't get heavy with the dark color.
A little iridescent paint goes a long way, I had to learn this. If you just mist a shot iridescent purple over the green the purple will show in the sunlight. I have used some of the true flip/flop paint from Smith paint but I didn't really care for it. I found the colors just seem to blend together too much.
I drill a couple of ancor holes in the back of the lip and use a dab of 5min.
I've never had a lip come loose and had to tear a bait completely apart to get a lip back.
use super glue to seal the blank, it's the fastest method I've tried so far. I let it dry 30 min sand with 150 grit to get rid of the roughness and recoat with super glue. Prime and paint the blank after second coat. Don't worry about your finger sticking to the bait, use a light rubbing motion and you won't have any problems.
Vodkaman, if you ever try to make a bass sized crank out of maple or heavy pine you'll see what I mean about tricky. 1/64oz too much weight and you have a sinker, in my opinion that is tricky. You don't find many guys using heavy hardwoods to make bass baits.
Mav, that statement is pretty close. I hit my baits with a hair dryer for about 10 secs just make sure. Wildlife colors is also a very very good water based paint.
Sorry never worked on a badger brush. But general cleaning is need no matter what the brand. I use windex and it seems to work very well. I always pull the needle when changing colors and I only take my brush apart once a month. the windex does that good of a job for me.
I think spraying in the house is going to be a big mess and mistake at the same time. You may want to think about that a little bit more. I have overspray all over the garage and I only paint in 1 corner. After about an hour of painting and cleaning the brush, my garage looks like a steam bath.
You could put a big tank compressor in the garage and run hose into the house to the brush. I would suggest two water traps, one on the compressor and a in-line filter. the dryer the air the better.
