  1. You can also find several flip/flop paints in waterbase from Smith paints and WASCO. There are lots of ways to get the effect. Spraying over darker base colors is one, but I use it over light transp. colors also. You just have to play around to find your desired results.
  2. Cherry wood is too heavy, I tried making a few baits from poplar and ash which has a lower density than cherry and on a 2.5" long bait with 1/8oz balast weight both baits sink like a rock. I am impressed you could carve a bait out of cherry wood, wore my hands and carving kife out on the ash. Search all of Skeeter's posts, you find a boat load of info to get you going.
  3. cherry, sent you to the right place. Wasco paints and Smith paints you can't beat either one for a water based paint.
  4. Yea, yea he's a great painter and all that, but I let him play with his first Iwata airbrush and have the bait to prove it. He out did all my baits with my own brush. I hear Bear Creek callin Bobby.
  5. If you guys have a regular pharmcy that you use, talk to them about ordering you a batch at their cost, I got a 1000 cups for 21.99 and no shipping.

the top 3 baits are 2 and 2.25 long, weigh 1/4oz. the top water is 1.75 long and weighs 3/16oz. the bottom bait is 3/8 wide x 2 long and weighs in a bit over 1/8oz.
  14. You can dry the c-tex and testors faster by using a hair dryer on high heat, low air. I've never tried the model paint but I would guess the color selection will be more limited than with air brush paint.
  15. Tater, you might want to look at adding some of the taxidermy paints (wildlife colors) to your supply. These are more expensive than C-tex, but a much better selection of colors, irid., transp., pearl, and metalics. I find that these spray better too.
  16. I use plain ole minwax polyurathane, 3 dips with light sanding with 400 grit in between each dip. Gives me a nice smooth surface for primer and paint.
  17. thanks Cullin, that was what I was lookin for.
  18. Thanks Daivd, but the pic only shows the belly of the lure, I can't tell what colors are on the shoulders and back.
  19. I need some help please. An old bandit color 04M Old Light, can someone give me discription or better yet post a pic of this color pattern. I've run out of places to search, ya'll are my last hope. Thanks

  23. try doing away with the undercoat and shoot with a white sandable primer like painters choice.
  24. I thought BigRed was talking top coats here, I use plain ole polyurathane to seal 3 dips followed by light sanding with 400 and prime. I don't want to lose the properties of the balsa wood by making it rock hard. This method has worked for me.
