    flatfish

I came across a bag of wood flatfish bodies, i was wondering if anybody knows if they were weighted, and if so the weight placement.I think that they are made out of cedar might be balsa though. if anyone wants one or two bodies let me know i'm willing to share. Thanks, Sean
  3. Very nice, I think I need one of those rodents :!:
  4. Skeeter, how is the flatfish coming along? did you end up weighting it? i came across a few bodies on ebay and wanted to finish them, but am unsure about the weight and or the placement of the weight. just going to use them myself, thought that i might learn from your trials. if anyone would like one or two bodies i would be happy to share, i got a whole gallon bag full. Sean
  5. Thanks for the ideas guys,iv'e been doing home improvements, and have been spending most of my free time stripping kitchen cabinets, haven't got a chance to keep up with the forum. I made some rattles with some spent 357 brass, and some b-b's i put a few in the 357 and then pinch the open end shut with some pliers. kind of big for wood lures but i think i might be able to use them with the plastic/foam. Thanks again
  6. Great looking family, nice to see the kids out enjoying themselves with dad.
  7. Great tutorial, well written and easy to follow. It loaded without a problem on my dial up, so splitting it up must have worked. Great Job, going to have to put the pulse minnow on my list of lures to try.
  8. Thanks guys, it's nice to have access to all your knowledge. i used featherlite, its seems pretty easy to work with. i'm going to try to through wire my next batch, and wire a rattle and the weight to it. Thanks again for all the help. can't wait to try them out.
  9. Tanks Coley, I molded them , using the wood one I made in the back, Art Brush's post made me want to try, although i'm not up to trying the four part mold yet. Its fun to try something new
  10. These guys are my first attempt at plasctic lures, the one in the center was the origanal model, i'm still experimenting with weight and lips. has anyone put a rattle in plastci lures? these are made from a two part mold, so i'm not sure how to put them in?

    1st try

wow, thats your first lure. my first one looked like a kindergardner made it. When i finally caught a fish with it, the screw eye came out (too short and i didn't glue it in)and Mr. bass almost got away. the lure was made of a big chunk of pine and he kept floating to the top. i chased him around for a half hour, but i finally netted him and got my lure back. my fishing buddy wouldn,t let me live it down  but i got my lure back.
  12. Thanks for all the info guys, its nice to have such a good source of info , Cody at least you have the eagles we have the lions, want to trade? the web page is just another hobby, something to do while the lures are drying. it's pretty fun. been getting ok feed back. thanks again , Wade
  13. Thanks for the tips, i'm going to start on a couple more tonight, i'll put the eyes farther back and flaten the nose out on one of them. Thanks again. Red-g8r do the ones on the tackle shop float? Are you thinking about carring some lips, maybe the ones with the tie-on's molded in. Cody there talking about some snow here to, spring can't come to quick.
  14. hi guys i just made these guys and tried them in the tub, these guys have some bb's in them to rattle, probably too heavy the one on the bottom goes right to the bottom of the tub fast, the top one goes down but a little slower, have to get them to the lake and try them out. glad i have something to do until spring.top coat is crystal sheen. they don't seem to have much actioni guess i should stick some lips on them? Anybody want to share how they test lures when a lake isn't available? Our lakes are pretty hard this time of year. ?
  15. Great lures, I love those bullheads :!:

  19. hey i'm new here, took up trying to make lures a couple of months ago. I got most of my info off of fourms like this, as far as paint, weight, and clear coats. i've even caught fish with some of my earliest lures, how cool. i need some good objective critisim , I just finished this lure, and tried it out in the bath tub,(pretty cold here in michigan) it seemed to work pretty good. any advice or coments would be appriciated. i tried to show my girl friend but she just didn't seem to intrested. : :
