  1. When you shoot the Faschange paints, or Chameleon, do you have a dark base? Thanks Doug
  2. My name is Doug. I've been here a while, although haven't contributed much. I'm just about senoir citizen. I have made my own baits, before and painted them. Now I just paint. Two things you must have. Patience, and eyes. I'm short on both. If their is anything I can give, just ask. Number one thing!! Just have fun. That's what they make primer for. Thanks Doug
  3. I've heard it a couple times on here to make eyes with epoxy. I can figure a mold out, with wood, but how do you get them out of the molds? Thanks Doug
  4. Thanks people, just what I needed to know. Doug
  5. I think I got mine from Menards. It's a Coleman. Cheap, but for me it works. I think if I was to buy another, I would go to a bigger one, because you might be able to use some air tools. Myself, year and a half doesn't sound very long lasting. Doug
  6. Do you have to heat set paint, if you wait awhile in between coats? And how do you do it? Thanks again Doug
  7. Thanks everyone for the help. Like I stated at first, it's been a couple years since I made anything.I have an old lure that is broke, and just messing with it. Something to do. Thanks all again Doug
  8. Does the Envirotec ever out date? I've had this a couple years. Maybe half gone. As all of you know. I was going to get rich, and be famous making lures.LMAO They sure make nice Xmas tree decorations. Thanks everyone!! Doug
  9. Haven't used this for a while. Forgot everything.Didn't know much. I poured some envirotec 2 days ago, and it isn't set completely. Still tacky. I didn't pour very much, so maybe didn't get it 1 to 1. Temperature was low 60s. I'm thinking, I need to try again. Need some advice. Thanks Doug
  10. Try shooting a clear coat on them. Sometimes that will bring more color out. Good luck Doug
  11. Try some taxidermist suppy companies. Good luck Doug
  12. I don't know about boxes, but display stands. oldlure.com
  13. Thanks for the replys.BobP, I was thinking with a gravity feed, you wouldn't need as much air pressure. But, I understand what you're saying also. I think a Iwata is what I need, and want. Thanks again for the help. Doug
  14. Start taking things apart, starting at the brush.Take the brush off, and you should get air. If not, take the hose off the compressor, should get air out of the compressor. If you do, the trouble is in the hose. Try blowing through it. Run a small wire though it. Be carful not to poke the side of the hose to much. Did you use teflon tape on the threads? Maybe some is covering an opening. Just start looking.
  15. I'd like to get a gravity flow brush. I've got two bottom feeds, but can't get the fine pattern I want. Maybe it's me( probably is) but I can't get the fine lines I want. I don't use one that much, so do't want to spend much. Thanks Doug

    P.M.

Sorry to waste the post, but, after all the time on this board, I just found my private messages. Sorry to all that sent something to me. I'll have to check more often. Doug
  17. They make no oder Kilz in a puff can. I get it at Home Depot. Doug
  18. I don't know if you have ever used air cans, but READ the instructions very good. Maybe I'll old, but to me those things are bombs. Don't shake them. I started with them, and then a small compressor. I can't remember the cheapest place to buy them. I know I went to Radio Shack, and maybe Wally. Good luck Doug
  19. Kellure, tell me about the alcohol, please. What's the differents between alcohol, and surgical alcohol? What do you mean by running drops? I've been useing windex, and would like to try something new. Thanks Doug
  20. Those look great. I've been painting for maybe 2 or 3 years, My skills go up, but my eyes get worse. Great job Doug
  21. Baits look good. Now go to oldlure.com that will give you something to use. Looks like you're having fun. Good Luck Doug
  22. BB just think. If we didn't make mistakes, these guys wouldn't have any thing to talk about. Don't feel bad. Everyone has made a lot of messes. That's why they know what to tell us. Just have fun. Good luck Doug
  23. How about a fish tank? Depending on what you want for depth, a 20 gallon would be big. Maybe go to BPS, or another sporting store, and usually they have displays set up, with Mr. Twisters, or something, swimming. Might get an idea there. Good Luck Doug
  24. I'll bet, it you just keep practicing, you'll be able to paint with anything. I'm sure you get what you pay for, but, they are all the same. Just keep trying. That's what they make primer for. Good luck Doug
  25. Welcome kb. I'm not much of an expert, but use what ever you want. I use water base, just for the clean up.I paint in the basement, so I have to think about the smell. The main concern is to seal the wood first. Some use Kilz. It's a water, and stain sealer. Some dip, or you can get it in a spray can. There are many good people on here. Don't be afraid to ask questions. If someone doesn't know, the next one will. Doug
