  1. I made a lure that weighed too much, so I cut, and sanded it down.I had to re weight it, and keep checking it in water. Now the wood grain is rough. The wood is Ash. What do you do now. Do you cover it with wood filler? A coat fo Envirotex, or flex coat? Or just paint, and seal, and use it the way it is. I've got 3 coats of base coat white itnow. Thanks Doug
  2. You can go to ebay, under wood, and find anything you want. Just be careful of shipping. Doug
  3. Thanks Riverman. I might just leave it, and get by. Thanks Doug
  4. I've got an old Cobb lure, that has lost it's shine. I tried using a polishing ,on my dremel. Well now I have a spot that I burnt through the top coat. Is there any way to bring back the shine? I think I can put a little flex coat, or envirotec on the spot to seal it. Thanks for your advice. Doug
  5. Greg, great job. Thanks for the reply. That bait should work.
  6. Where do you get the bug eyes? Thanks Doug
  7. Good morning,Tring to get away from my frustations, with wood, thought I'd tear up some plastic. Can I paint lures with water based paint? After they are sanded, they get a coat of spray can primer. Thanks Doug
  8. Thanks B and D. That's just what I need. Thanks Doug
  9. I can build a drying wheel. but can't figure what to use for holders. I'm making 2 to 3 oz. lures, so they get a lot of leverage as they make a ratation.so I need something that holds them staight. I've seen a design where they are held at both ends, but, it looks as it would be hard to hook them up, after they are covered with envirotix. Thanks Doug
  10. How about claps, like are used to hold the scale netting on. They come in different sizes. Good luck Doug
  11. What do you guys use to make the loopes in your through wire? Do you just use needle nose? Thanks Doug
  12. Thanks guys, with your help, I'' get it. Thanks
  13. I have a Coleman. that I bought at Menard's for 80 dollars. Got a small regulator at Harbor Freight. Once you find what you want, take your airbrush with you, and the salesman should help you to get the fittings to hook it up. Have fun Allstate48
  14. Thanks in advance. I've been using a single action airbrush, and now bought a double action. How hard is it to change needles? Do I have to worry about the trigger? With my single action, I just tear down, clean, and change when I start to detail.I'm just not real happy with the details. I think I can do a little better job. After lookimg at all of your lures, I need to get quite a bit better. My wife says the fish don't care, but I do Thanks everyone for the help, and the challenges. Doug
  15. To all you people. Thanks a lot. You answer all of my questions, and help me a bunch. Thanks Doug
  16. I'm sorry for asking, but why are you worried about the paint being UV stable? Are you afraid it will break down? If you put a heavy clear coat over it, won't that protect it? Thanks Allstate
  17. O.K. now we have other option. If we use other acrylic paints, besides Createx, are you saying we have to cut it with something? Is this what Lequitex is, and if so what, and where do we get it? Thanks Doug
  18. Since I started reading these post, I've been changing pressures, just to see what happens. I shot some Createx, at 40 lbs. of pressure, with a 3 needle. You have to be quicker, but there wasn't any splatters. Next I went with the smaller needle, and tured the pressure down to around 20. With some fine tuning, I could make some good lines. What about Tester paints? They make a line of acrylic paints. Just keep messin. Good Luck Doug
  19. Guys, I guarantee, I'm NO expert, just a very old novice. I was havig trouble with Createx, so after about upteen phone calls, I called the company. I was told to run the pressure above 25 lbs. I just pour, and shoot. We live 2 hrs. from anywhere, so I try alot of different things, and read the forums alot. Not saying this is the way for everyone, but it works for me. If one thing doesn't work, that's what they make base coats for. Good luck, and don't give up. Doug
  20. Thanks in advance. How do you put glitter on? I'm not sure how to get it on evenly. Thanks Doug
  21. Aaron, Go to an art store, they should have a sheet of metal, that people use to form models for sculpure. You can cut it, form it, anything. It;s very light. Hope this helps. Doug
  22. How do you determine at what angle to put the lip in the lure? Thanks Doug
