    dev con

I miss the days when I just dipped the lures in spar varnish.
  2. Here in the States, most Dollar Stores have some. The costliest I've seen was 18 26" X 20" sheets for, You Guessed It, a dollar.
  3. The Best images are the ones you take yourself. Use a digital camera at it's highest resolution and save the Pics at the best quality. Next would be scanning pics from good quality photos, also at best quality. Then comes downloads from the net. Try to use pics with the highest pixel counts. They will yield better quality pics. 12" is pretty darn big, even ffor SW plugs. You'll need to set up for legal size paper. Do it any way you want but fir speed sake, the tutorials method is very fast, and using Devcon will also speed the process as it does cure faster than Etex. Waiting for 2 Etex cures could take days!
  4. I feel my work has been rewarded. That's "Picture Perfect"' date=' Very nice, indeed![/quote']

  6. Hey Max, Here's one possible solution. I feel your fear of loosing all the hard work you put into the model. What you could do is set the model up as if you were going to cast it out of a hard agent i.e, Erethane Rubber over 60 shore hardness or Bondo(Seal and clear coat the balsa so it will give the mold a smooth cavity). Instead, use DAP silicone and a few drops of water. (See the clam mold tutorial for more details.) This should allow for easy removal and pick up all the detail. Cast resin in that mold, and use the resin casting for the model in your harder mold.
  7. I glue the very edges only of the standard paper and put the tissue on so it lays perfectly flat. That should cut down on the noise. The tissue cimes folded and the size of the sheets are 20" x 26". I got 40 sheets of white for $1 at the Dollar Store. I cut them in to 8.5" X 11" I set the print up so The first printing job prints on the bottom of the page. That allows me to cut out the images on the tissue and still be able to use the paper again. "Waste not, want not."
  8. The tutorial is in the "How To" section. Here's a direct link. http://www.tackleunderground.com/board/kb.php?mode=article&k=43 MS paint comes Standard with MS Windows Programs. It's in the "Accessories" Program Group. If you have MS Windows, you have it.
  9. Tissue Paper works much better and follows contours better also. MS PAINT Allows Flipping. Other programs like MS Pub do to but also let you print with exact measurements.
  10. I'm just curious to see some of the work you all have done. You people are so inventive it's great to see how you run with the ball! Here is my Bomber Minnow. It's a 6.25", 2 oz Foamy with an Atlantic Silverside photo over foil finish. It is no longer a fish catching Virgin.
  11. If the paint is coming off in sheets, it sounds as though the topcoat is the culprit, as previously stated. Under a good epoxy topcoat, I can't see that happening. As the poster has said, he used many different sealing methods. I can't believe they all failed to do their job. I'll wager the Rod Epoxy he uses will cure his peeling problem.
  12. Very Interesting design.
  13. True, they just host YOUR pictures. That one was moments before I developed a propensity for strange behavior. What a coincidece that they caught it on film.
  14. I've had some really fine results using the "Tissue over Foil" method. Decal like results but with everyday materials. http://www.tackleunderground.com/board/kb.php?mode=article&k=43.
  15. Sorry, Stainless Steel. You can see my tutorial on it. Got it! Could you provide the link? Sure..http://www.tackleunderground.com/board/kb.php?mode=article&k=46 Muy Facile y muy fuerte. Llame mi si tu necesita. 40mYrs out of school but I had to give it a shot.
  16. Sorry, Stainless Steel. You can see my tutorial on it.
  17. I'm still fond of using SS as it is by far the stongest material you could use. If anyone wants to try SS in place of Lexan, just read the tutorial I put up, or send me a picture of the lip along with the dimensions and I'll knock one or 2 out for you, to try out.

    A new Ludela.

This is my latest, a 4", 5/8 oz. Foam Ludela. One is right from the mold and was fitted for a SS Lip (I have a new Tutorial on making SS Lips) and the other has a tissue over foil photo finish and sports a Lexan lip. That one now resides in FL.
  19. Jack, I'm not looking to steal any secrets, but are those SS lips on your plugs? It looks much too thin to be Lexan. BTW, they look A1 TuttiFrutti NICE!
  20. That's what I do with the foil. It's a huge advantage as you can always remove the paint if you need to make a change. JMHO.
