  1. Here's a Herring Scheme. 4" and 1.25 oz w/o hooks. Floats with a slight nose down attitude.[/img]
  2. FF runs an Auto body repair shop so he has access to all kinds of paints and supplies. Talk about "The Mother Load."
  3. I think we have this guy on our board too FF is here, too. The dude really knows how to paint. Now if he could only teach me how to do that with rattle cans.
  4. Here's that thread. I've been using that process on my stuff with good results. http://www.tackleunderground.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=3180&highlight=
  5. I just posted a tutorial on how to make a Bondo mold and subsequent Foam lures, in the hardbait tutorial section. Thanx for the inspiration, Shawn. Some new Foamies. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v476/Grmstr/1.jpg Two foamies. The bottom one is lead loaded and has a steeper lip angle to get it deeper. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v476/Grmstr/4.jpg
  6. Follow the instructions for the Bondo Mold threadI posted. It'll stand up to lead for a while and is easily replace. (Unless you're going commercial) You can use high Temp RTV.
  7. To say it's nice is quite an understatement. How long does it take to make that? How can youdare cast that out, knowing you might lose it if have it busted up?? I'm more a meat and potatoes kinda guy, plus I don't have the skills to pull something like that off! Thanx for the head shot. Atleast one person rean my post.

    Foam Tip

Just a couple of quick queries: What is PVA? Do you have to reapply the wax everytime you cast or can you just reapply the PVA? Do you use talc, like we do with standard mold releases?
  9. Now that's what I'm talking about! "Lipless" Bomber Plugs. Actually, they have a lip, but it's formed with the plug and not added on. A very nice innovation, I must say. http://home.comcast.net/~dstratrap/2004_0912_161222AA.jpg That's the bottom link.

    Plug Mugs.

After a brief conversation and further consideration, I am asking for those of you who post Pics of their work, to also post a head on shot. Side views are so one dimensional. Can't tell how thick they are. TIA Mike P
  11. I'm not sure that 20 inches is a keeper. Here in NH the limit is 28. Good thing for you, you are where you are, because you'd have to throw him back here in NH! Kudos and good luck! Wish the kid a Belated Happy Birthday and Momma a speedy and well deserved recoverey.
  12. Dems be Needle Fish Plugs. They're an Old Cape Cod Standby. Ask BM nicely and he'll show how he makes um.
  13. The only thing I didn't see was the "Hour of Operation" Sign. I guess you're closed for the season.
  14. I'm a regular on the Hard Bait board, but no one there seems to know where I can get a VERY long shanked 8/0 or larger hook. I need the longest shank possible, something like XXX long (6 inches). It's for saltwater use. I know mustad used to make one with a nickle finish and a beak type barb. They need to be strong as they'll be used for Stripers and Big Blues. Can anyone here steer me in the right direction. I used to get them from Midland Tackle, but they're not around anymore. TIA Mike P
  15. It might last fdor a few, but I really couldn't tell you for sure. After all, you're talking pounds and something that big will hold the heat for a lot longer han these smaller pieces. I didn't notice any drtamatic breakdown in the Bondo with the piece I poured, and I was going as fast as I could. I'd give it a go. Did you try Plaster? That'll work.
  16. I made some smaller ones. Took about an hour from Idea to what you see. Can you guess what I used for the model? The longer one is 1" and the other 3/4". http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v476/Grmstr/MOFO/L6.jpg
  17. I hear ya, Jed. I'll also be casting 3/8 and 1/4 inchers in the future. The weight I pictured weighs appx 1 oz. In this Puppy below, the 4 inch lure weighed in at 1.5 oz. I positioned the weight amidship. It sinks but maintains a top up posture on the way down. The weight was very near the bottom.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v476/Grmstr/MOFO/10.jpg
