  1. That is great Charlie! Send them on!
  2. Nice Job Coley! Did you use the new secret stuff? You should listen to Lapala's comment, one that uses the letter "U" in place of the word "You", knows a bit about laziness!
  3. Coley, the eating is always welcome activity! So are we going to fry up some of that fine sauger? That was without doubt some of the best tasting fish I have ate. Every meal was delicous, a real epicurean delight! Yes, None finer than Nathan and Debbie. Me too, Thursday can't come soon enough!
  4. Nathan, what have you got planned for activities?
  5. Hey Coley don't make it so hard on yourself, somethings just aren't meant to be. You will always be a pig kisser in my eyes, however, a damn fine one. It will be grin to see you and everybody again! Later, Dan
  6. No one could stand a chance now that Coley is slim and trim
  7. 43 lbs. Good job! No need to wear a name tag, I'll just look for the guy who looks like a pipe cleaner with eyes. I have a kissed a pig or two in my time, however, they all had 2-legs not 4. You better check with Zoey
  8. No need to question Coley's culinary prowess. The picture below displays our protruding bellies in fine fashion. In viewing that picture one can safely conlcude that we all demonstrate great skill with a fork and partake only in the finest of fare.
  9. Back in the late 60's and early 70's some of the hillbillies around Tablerock were using the old wood jtd pikie minnows for the same purpose. Removing the metal diving bill and re-installing it upside down which provides the action without diving.
  10. Nate, I plan on being there all 4 days!
  11. Yes, Bondo will adhere to aluminum. There are several different brands that sell bondo which has ground up aluminum as the filler. Which makes the bondo water resistant, regular bondo's filler is essentially talcum powder which draws water. When you go to paint those tanks make sure that you use a paint designed to adhere to aluminum, or primer such as Zinc Chromate for the base, or it won't stay on long!

Dave, take a sample to a scrap yard/metal recycler they have various methods to test metals, ferrous, non-ferrous and exotic alloys.

    Must see

Read the write up....Great Nate! Glad to see you're receiving some well deserved recognition for your innovative baits!!!
  15. With site traffic I suspect you have here I really can't understand why tackle stores couldn't fly and generate revenue as well. I am all for a venue geared to market custom built tackle!
  16. If you aren't sanding the basecoat, prior to applying the color try it will help in most cases
  17. As skeeter mentioned dupont and ppg are good. However, there are brands that are relatively inexpensive in comparison and will perform as good when clearcoating baits. Before you spend condsiderable coin on Dupont, sikkens, ppg or any other of the big buck brands. Give "Autobody Master" brand sold at many auto part stores. You will save yourself some $$$$$ and if urethane proves to be something you want to use with regularity, then try a few of the others.
  18. White cedar primarily, also mahogany, maple, poplar, walnut and a few others.
  19. I can't say with a voice of experience if lacquer will stick better to latex than oil base. However, if lacquer will melt the substrate you will achieve better adhesion as opposed to the paint just sticking on the surface. I would be willing to hazzard a guess and say that lacquer wil stick better to oil base than latex. I have painted plenty of lacquer in my day and never recall using a latex primer, they did at one time make a waterborne sealer to stop solvent from attacking the old finish, not latex though.
  20. kzimmerman, The product you speak of isn't the same!! This epoxy is used extensively in wood boat restoration. Claiming that if properly applied the repair area will be stronger than the original wood.
  21. I have heard of structural epoxy that in effect does the same as the product you mentioned. I believe it is a 2-part system. It would seem to be just the ticket for bait builders.
  22. Tally Good to hear you have joined on! Nathan is working on the forum, there should be something there tomorrow!
  23. Tally, You should sign-up to the cause, the views and opinions you have expressed could yield some postive results in the initial structuring of this alliance. You being a member as oppossed to being a spectator, would benefit many and the alliance. Hustle over to Nathan's and get signed on!
  24. Jamie This rating system will mostly likely pertain to those within the alliance that are interested in commercial promotion and marketing their lures. It will garner participating members some measure of clout, in regards to offering the public a bait of quality. In addition, if the alliance does grow to significant size all members will reap from this. Not all members will be driven to sell their wares, which is evident by the diversity here on TU. Some labor for the satisfaction of creating their own bait and fishing the bait. Others are interested in the commercial promotion and marketing. From the hobbyist to the professional we all share the same interest. Don't let this idea of a rating system discourage you from actively participating in this fledgling alliance. Texasbass, Get over to Nathan's forum and contribute, I am confident you have something to offer.
