  1. Primarily an intercoat is used to ensure adhesion between the base color/artwork and the final clearcoat. When spraying basecoat color there is a window of time in which the final clear can be applied to ensure proper adhesion. Outside that time frame the adhesion of the clear coat is compromised. If you are performing extensive artwork or multiple color application and the array of various colors/artwork can not be completed and clearcoat within a certain period. Then you need to use a intercoat which will allow you ample time to finish the artwork and ensure the final clearcoat will adhere to the base colors and artwork. If you want to save money hit up your local body shop for waste paint and they will have plenty. You might prime the pump with a few of your handmade plugs. But you will soon have plenty of paint at your disposal. It will be a cheap and good alternative to HOK
  2. You will have much better luck with a minnow trap if placed in a stream with a population of minnows. The scent of your bait will travel a significant distance down stream from the trap. You can use bread mixed with a small portion blood bait or any other commercial fish bait to lure the minnows to your trap.
  3. Have a Happy Bday! Jerry
  4. As much as I like solvent based paint; the writing is on the wall. Some areas in California are already required to use waterborne paints due to VOC restrictions. It's only a matter of time before it will be the industry standard. I know of one european car maker that uses waterborne exclusively. Could be 5yrs, 10yrs before the change over occurs or not in this lifetime, and may never come to be for the little guy painting baits. Years ago lacquer was abandoned for the basecoat-cleacoat finishes now used to refinishing cars, but it is still in use. The waterborne paints have come a long way and in the end may prove to be the best thing since sliced bread.

    Fishing Joke

I think the only reason my husband likes to go fishing so much is that it's the only time he hears someone tell him, "Wow, that's a big one!"
  6. Your too nice, Gene, Thanks for the endorsement!
  7. It could be static, but considering the heat involved I suspect the excess electrons would be cooked off when becoming excited by the heat.
  8. I have a Happy B-Day, Nathan
  9. Good info, Gene. Many of the long ago established large lure companies conducted similar tests with various wood.
  10. You paint a magnificent picture in the reader's mind with your writting. Although it is a radical departure from some of your more popular risque material, still nicely done!
  11. Fine looking piece of equipment there, Dave.
  12. Another memorable time in Clinton Mo. attending the 4TH annual TU-MO meet. The hospitality is first rate as usual, Nathan and Deb always make a soul feel special. The food was a treat I won't soon forget; made it home with a few more pounds aound the waist. Coley and Charlie once again hit the mark with their palate pleasing hobo dinner accompanied by some of the finest onion rings and hush puppies your lips will ever meet. Debbie, I think the shrimp dip may have topped last year's, judging by Gene's reluctancy in letting anyone near the bowl. Albeit a difficult task prying his fingers off the bowl to get a quick dip, well worth the effort. Nathan's BBQ is another sure fire winner that always satisfies. Cadman's, mutli-color powder painting demo was informative and he made it look easy enough, I might be able to pull it off. Nice idea the raffle was Ted, I hope we can have that every year! The fishing wasn't the best this year, but the friendship and food can't be beat! Sure missed you not being there Jerry, I hope you can attend next years meet. Thanks for the cap and shirt! you too Mrs. redg8r! Thanks to all those responsible for making these meets a success your efforts are deeply appreciated. To all my Tu friends hope to see you there next year! KcDanO
  13. Some basecoat paint will require a inter-coat clear if the finish isn't clearcoated in a certain time frame. Otherwise, the clear coat in some cases won't stick to the underlying paint. You might also try a slower drying thinner than acetone which should help the paint bond better.
  14. Need a large here. Hope to see you next year!

  15. I think it would be a excellent addition!
  16. Run some fiber optic strands inside the rod until they won't go any farther. Remove and measure the length of the strands transfer that measurement to the rod. Strip off the rod finish from the measured mark to the tip. Take one of the brightest LEDs you can find, several button size batteries and a small switch. Placing all the batteries and switch in the butt end of the rod and you might get a glowing tip!
  17. Who cares anyway, Coley hasn't hit a thing with that pistol since coal was 2 dollars a ton.
  18. You might add some thinner if you are applying the DN over heat-set waterbase paint. I would suspect you will encounter problems adding thinner to the DN, if you're brushing or dipping over solvent base paint that doesn't have a catalyst added. The thinner may eat into the solvent base paint causing it to run, bleed or possibly wrinkle.
