  1. Come on soft plastic guys; what happens when you get moisture in the plastic and heat it? It bubbles, right. Wood has a moisture content. You need to dry your wood as much as you can. Put it in the oven (kiln dried) this should bring your moisture content down. You do have to remember that no matter how much you dry it there will still be a small moisture content within the wood. Post some pics here so we can see.
  2. Also, you should check out the gallery and the sticky.
  3. If you make your plastic just a little hotter it will run easier; but not so hot as to scorch it. Also; if you angle your mold with the tail section just a little higher( just a couple of degrees) than the main body and you pour the tails first the plastic should run to the lowest point making your tails thinner.
  4. I hear ya. When I first started I was re-melting and pouring in plaster molds making "shadows" in my basement. Only one problem; I was re-melting Berkley rubber. If you've ever done that, it's a smell you won't soon forget. Pouring in the basement lasted all of about 1 hour and I was bannished to the unheated garage and it can get quite cold up here in the winter but still not as cold as my wife can get.lol I guess we've all got some sort of "spouse" stories.
  5. If you are heating your plastic on your kitchen stove you must be single. If you're not; just keep going and you will be.lol
  6. Just some more tips. I add the salt before I nuke the plastic. It disolves much better and you don't get lumps. I don't add worm oil to salted baits but I do add the scent after I bag them. The salt will absorb the scent and release it in the water. After you take your warm baits out of the mold make sure you lay them out straight until they cool. If you don't they will take the shape that they are laying in.
  7. Sorry about that. I didn't think to ask you how long you waited before tried to find out if they arrived. Once it crosses the boarder the package goes to customs. If it goes to the Toronto customs it will go out fairly quickly; but if it goes to Quebec it can take forever. Once I had a parcel sit in their offices for over a week. I was not impressed. You have to allow at least 3 weeks for the parcel to arrive.
  8. I insure every parcel going out now. I had the same problem in the past. Since I insure everything now I haven't lost one parcel. Interesting, eh?
  9. Al, maybe the color needs to be whipped at a higher speed. Have you tried the drill bit we use to mix the rubber? Just a thought.
  10. Several years ago I used to put a couple red shad worm in a bag of pumpkinseed worms and wait a week. It comes out as a very interesting color.( I did this with Berkley products) Won a few tournaments with that worm. Got to try that again worm again. I had forgotten about it. Thanks Guys.
  11. Sneaky Red Shad 1/2 cup plastic 25 drops black 1/4 tsp red highlite salt to taste This works really well as a stick. As a matter of fact you can do this effect with any of the highlites. Gold comes out really neat.
  12. You shouldn't put your pyrex cups on the hotplate. I only did it once and it exploded. Glad I had a long sleave shirt and my apron on. On one of the pieces I read " do not put on hotplate". Oh well.
  13. Sorry Red. Tried to get this on the sticky. I think I did it backasswards.

  15. I'm going to assume that you are using a microwave to heat your plastic. You will get small bubbles in the plastic especially if you heat the plastic all at once. Try heating in stages(2mins, then 1 1/2 acouple of times). Also you have to stir the heck out of it after each heating. This should reduce the bubbles. If you have humidity in the salt you will definately get bubbles, big time. I take my salt and warm it on my hotplate to dry it before I put it in the plastic. The other thing is practice and eventually you will find what works for you; everybody pours a little differently.
  16. Cranky, welcome. I have just started using pickling salt; and yes, it does come out clearer. We can buy it up here in almost every grocery store. It works great with just the glitters. Try this "stick". light smoke back/black pepper and a clear belly with silver/gold holo/and a touch of silver holo. It's a killer color up here.
  17. You should post some of the sites where a fellow could have a look at these items.
  18. Same here. I use only LC colors.
  19. Motor oil is different to almost everyone. I personally like a motor oil that looks like "motoroil". I put one on the sticky. Give it a try; it might be what you are looking for. Nova
  20. Has anyone heard from Trick Trout lately. I've been trying to contact him. I haven't seen any posts recently and I was just wondering if something happened. Thanks guys.
  21. I had a pyrex explode on the burner. What a mess; not to mention it darn stopped my heart. It really gets your attention. Don't put it on the burner.
  22. Seems to me that it would only require a letter of agreement drawn up between the two partys and their lawyers. I really don't think a patent would be used for this purpose. You can patent a design or a process but not an agreement.

  24. It is a good job. I like the colors. Should work well. You may have trouble coming up with a name for it though, lol.

Coley; Take a piece of kleenex and double it over, then put it over your flash. make sure that it doesn't cover the lens. This will defuse or soften the light from the flash. You may have to play with it until you get what you want.
