  1. It might also be the glitter. Try pouring a few baits without the glitter and see if they turn green. www.novalures.com
  2. That looks like geen pumpkin on the back and a combination of green pumpkin and flo. yellow on the bottom. www.novalures.com
  3. Do a search on here for plaster of paris or pop. www.novalures.com
  4. There used to be a worm that was hollow about half way up from the tail. The idea of it was that on a jighead or a carolina rig the worm's tail would rise up because of the trapped air. I don't remember the name of the bait or company that made them. I think I got them from Cabela's some 15 years ago. They did work quite well though; they were just ahead of their time. www.novalures.com
  5. Stay away from those cheap injectors. It's just pain in the butt and a nasty burn waiting to happen. www.novalures.com
  6. When I was doing hardbaits I used to put super fine glitter in the clearcoat before I shot it. No muss, no fuss. www.novalures.com
  7. Don't use a frame that is too thin as it will twist; that happened to me with the first one I made. If you think about it, you will be opening and closing it many many times. I just used scrap pine to make mine; little or no cost. www.novalures.com
  8. All you have to do is adjust the measurements of the "book" to suit the size of baits you're working on. Give it a try and let me know how it works for you. www.novalures.com
  9. When I was doing hardbaits I designed a type of "book" that I could do the scales on 2 baits at once. It was the fastest thing I've seen yet to do the scales on baits. If I remember correctly it was something like 30 seconds to do 2 baits. I tried the little clamps and the stick thing; they all drove me crazy. Sometimes the netting would move or a clamp would pull the cloth out of postion and the bait became a second just like that. Once I put together the"book" that was the end of the problems because once you put the baits in and close the "book", the baits don't move. I posted it on here quite a while ago but maybe it got lost during all the changes to TU over the past 2 years. If you guys want I'll post it again and share the trick. www.novalures.com
  10. The warning on the his website says it's flamable. I wonder if it's got alcohol in it. Has anyone tried alcohol in a spray bottle? Never know, it just might work. www.novalures.com
  11. When you get the bait, take a good pic and post it here; then we'll be able to help you better. www.novalures.com

    Mixing Colors

Red and yellow make orange; is that what you're trying to find out? Do a Google search on mixing colors. There are several sites that will give you all the answers. www.novalures.com

    Glitter

Copper is very heat sensitive. Experiment with it a little. Try clear plastic, copper glitter and a touch of pearl; you might like how it turns out. You can do the same with green glitter or even red. Also, tinker with highlights with or without the pearl. There are only two things that will hold you back. The size of your wallet and your ability to imagine and experiment. www.novalures.com
  16. They will somewhat until you add the liquid; in this case plastic. I've tried mixing highlights together in laquer thinner and spraying them with an airbrush. It works ok but atomizing laquer thinner is not a good thing for a number of reasons. www.novalures.com
  17. Two part epoxy thinned with alcohol(not wiskey lol) to a watery solution. You need to brush it on in several layers allowing drying time in between. The first couple of layers will soak right into the POP which is good as it will form a nice foundation for the cavity. That being said; the more layers you apply the less detail you will have such as scales, etc. www.novalures.com
  18. Good info Greg; thanks. www.novalures.com
  19. I use a few drops of cheap crazy glue. Some guys use double sided tape. www.novalures.com
  20. It should be virtually the same as mixing colors. Blue and red highlight should give you a shade of purple. It may not look the same as a "color mix" but it may look purple in the right light. The only way to know for sure is to try it. Use 4 oz plastic with one or two drops of black as your base. The smoke color will give you a background so the highlight can be easily seen. You will have to play with combination of the two colors.(how much of each such as 1 to 1, or 1 to 2 ,etc,) Be sure to keep track of what you do with pen and paper as you do it. www.novalures.com
  21. I just use a cheap one. I think I paid $10 for the kit. If you are worried about open flames you can use a heat gun but they are more costly than a torch. www.novalures.com
  22. Easy fix. As the sink hole starts to form just add more plastic as you have been doing. Then take a micro torch and just pass the flame over the spot. This will level everything off and it will look perfect. Just don't hold the flame too close or too long as this can burn the plastic. With a little practice this can be done quite quickly and evenly. www.novalures.com
  23. I've tried it and didn't like it. I ruined too many molds doing it. Why don't you carve a master from wood or make one out of clay and then make a mold of that? www.novalures.com
  24. Looks like a junebug and watermelon laminate to me. www.novalures.com
