  1. Kajan; how thick is the teflon sheet? www.novalures.com
  2. Dave; This just popped into my mind as I was reading your last post about the flashing due to too much wax. Can teflon be found in a sheet? I'm talking about the same thickness as thread tape you buy that is 1/2" wide. Nothing sticks to it and I was thinking if a larger piece could be found, it could be shaped over the first part of the 2 piece. I've never seen teflon that big; but I've never looked for it either. www.novalures.com
  3. What you are looking for is the old lead drains that are taken out of older homes during retrofits. Get to know the plumbers and go from there. Also, as said, if you live near commercial fishing areas sometimes you can get large pure lead weights from the fishermen. You can also take a walk on the "out of the way" shorelines and sometimes you can find nets washed ashore that have a whole string of lead weights (2 oz) on them. Sometimes it's more weight than you can carry. www.novalures.com
  4. I use acetone to thin it. www.novalures.com
  5. Yes; or any large grocery store. www.novalures.com
  6. Don't use table salt as it has iodine in it. I use pickling or canning salt as it is pure. www.novalures.com
  7. Why would you want to buy lead from someone on Ebay? I'm not knocking anyone; I'm just curious. When I need lead, I get wheel weights from a garage and pure lead from plumbers. Most of it I get for free and to some of them I give a few baits. www.novalures.com
  8. There are several different types of plastic, each with it's own application. I try not to complicate things too much. I use a "middle of the road" plastic and add hardner or softner as needed for the job I'm doing. For tubes you need a slightly firmer plastic; but you have to remember that if you are adding salt to the formula this will also add stiffness to the product. These are things that you have to finetune to your preferences.(not everyone likes the same thing). The more you play around(experiment); the more you will understand the products and what you can do with them. Make sure you write down everything you do as you do it step by step on a piece of paper. If it works then you can put it into a "master cookbook" so you can repeat it. Do not trust your memory. www.novalures.com
  9. First of all; welcome to the addition, lol. If you have some of those baits you mentioned, you can make your own molds from POP(there are many posts on this subject, just do a search). As for which plastic is the best; you will get many different answers.(each type has it's good points and bad). Glitters and colors are pretty much the same pricepoint from place to place. Some companys have different colors than others and some companys need more drops of color than the other; but all have their benefits. The one thing to remember is that shipping costs will kill you; so try to get most of your porduct in one place.( I get most of mine from Lurecraft because I've been dealing with them for years; first outlet I found; and they are closer to me than the others so shipping is a little cheaper. If you need any help; let me know. www.novalures.com
  10. There is one rule when it come to consignment.....it's a pain in the butt. You will loose your money. ( non payments, nsf cheques, arguments and lots of travel to pick up the rest of your product). As said before; your bottom line can get very thin in a hurry. www.novalures.com

    Fish tails

It is possible for you to make your own mold. Just do a search; there's plenty of info on this site. www.novalures.com
  12. If you do your repairs/changes to the mold before it dries and make mistakes you can still repair it with water and a little rubbing; or even some fresh pop mix. After it cures the repairs will be a lot harder to do(if not impossible). www.novalures.com
  13. Kim; Is the prep routine (heating, etc) any different with the new plastic? www.novalures.com
  14. I would contact Kim at Lurecraft for advice since they are the ones who made the molds. I'm sure they would gladly help you. I do know that if you use salt in your formula, this will dull the finish after a while. www.novalures.com
  15. I assume the buzzbait you are refering to is "Buzz" the Mouse. That is my design and yes it is spun deer hair; a combination of lower body and upper body hair. That bait took me 3 years to get it to the stage you see and it takes a fair amount of time to make. www.novalures.com
  16. I use their oxblood along with other colors to make some of my best colors. I've never used straight. www.novalures.com

    ceramic mold

The other problem will be that if you thought POP breaks/chips easily; you will be in for a real treat with ceramics. At least with POP there are ways to add strength to it. www.novalures.com

    My first try

No the BB's tend to plug the hole once you turn the bottle upsidedown to put the color to the pastic. The nuts will also mix the sediment much quicker. www.novalures.com

    My first try

Put a couple of SS nuts in the color bottle. This will help dispurse the color when you shake it.(sort of like rattle can paint) www.novalures.com
  20. What I did was to locate a rabbit hunter and ask for some pelts when they skin them. www.novalures.com
  21. Happy birthday. Man 14; I can't remember that far back;lol. Have a great day. www.novalures.com
  22. If you are going into business you have to find a way of measuring the amount of color you add for each recipe. You must be able to produce consistant colors from one pour to the next. www.novalures.com
  23. I usually bake mine in the oven set at 150 for a couple hours. Then I take it out and set it on newspapers to absorb any moisture left as it cools. Just don't set your temp too high as this may cause the moisture to turn too steam and crack the mold. www.novalures.com
  24. Go with the pyrex; don't scrimp on quality, it's too dangerous. Sometime they come on sale(at least they do here) and you can get a 1 cup, a 2 cup, and a 4 cup in a package for around $10. www.novalures.com
