  1. Try adding it to golden yellow and a little black flake. I call this color brown gold. www.novalures.com
  2. If that's the Lurecraft color; it's one of my favorites. You can do so much with it(more than you might think). www.novalures.com

One Sock; try cutting a strip of the purple about 1/8" wide and however long. then wrap it around the stick like a barber pole. Just a quick thought. www.novalures.com
  7. Try another drop of green and see where that takes you. www.novalures.com

    Hook Help!

There you go. That's what it is. I used to use these hooks on large grubs because they have a longer shank than an aberdeen jig hook. www.novalures.com
  11. Not quite, as the flare would be on the sides of the tail. www.novalures.com
  12. I haven't made hardbaits for quite a while now; but hydro dynamics are the same for any-type bait. What I would do first is make a new tail piece. Make it thinner on the leading edge; as suggested before; but I would make the tailend of it wider and slightly flared out on the sides. My thinking is that once you can get the tail section swinging the rest of the bait should pick up some of that motion, especially at slower speeds. www.novalures.com
  13. You are entirely welcome Eric, and thank you. This site is like a giant textbook on all kinds of things related to fishing lures of all kinds. All someone has to do is use it. www.novalures.com
  14. Right on the money Dave; good explaination. If you want to get to the roof you have to get on the fiirst rung of the ladder and go from there. In other words; don't expect to produce a pro lure the first time out. You are going to have many many attempts before you get one that you really like; but each one before that will teach you something if you listen to them. You will get frustrated and you will get angry at yourself; but if you really want to make those lures, you'll keep going. If you do keep going, one day all your work will be rewarded. www.novalures.com
  15. What I found with the divided cup was that yes it takes a little longer to heat the plastic but; you have to be careful as the metal can cause scorching of the plastic touching it. So, stirring and shorter nuke times are more important tha in an undivided cup. www.novalures.com

    Fish ID please

Almost looks like a sea-run trout, but the pink/red on the lateral seems a little pale. (Here the color is way more pronounced) www.novalures.com
  17. You don't necessarily have to have a lathe. Use dowels to make you masters. www.novalures.com
  18. It's not if you're going to burn yourself; it's how many times and how bad each time. Each (soft or hard) has it's dangers so my advice is do the one you think you'll like the best. www.novalures.com
  19. Try black grape with a little natural.(LC colors). www.novalures.com
  20. Geez Tony, I must be getting old. I forgot all about the nose-oil thing. lol. Yes it will work on the new rods. www.novalures.com

    My Pot

Doesn't look messy to me. I could show you guys a pic of my bench/mess; but if I did you wouldn't get anything done for a while because you'd all be laughing to hard.lol www.novalures.com
  25. I make my molds from POP mostly. I seal my masters with rattle can paint, several coats with steel wool between coats 1 and 2. Make sure that you use gloss paint, this will give a better detail transfer. Never had a problem getting the master out of the mold; even in a two-piece mold. When I make an open mold with a complicated shape, I will make it in two pieces. This way you can get the wooden master out quite easily. Then if you still only want a one piece mold all you do is epoxy it back together. www.novalures.com
