  1. Not at all. You don't put any more glue than a few drops; just enough to hold it down. www.novalures.com
  2. The only time I pour the POP in first and set the master into the plaster is when I'm making a 2 piece mold. Other than that I glue the master to the bottom and pour over it. www.novalures.com
  3. I ony use my master to make one mold. From that I pour a bunch of baits. I then select the best ones and make my main production mold. Plastic is a lot easier to get out of POP than a piece of wood. www.novalures.com

Sorry, I didn't ask the question correctly. What type of baits are you planing on making? www.novalures.com

    That's like an after market low-jack. www.novalures.com
  7. Ever pick up a frog?(freshwater) Or a baitfish. Oh yea; what about a real worm or an eel. Pretty soft, eh? I don't mean to be snarky, all I'm saying is that fish don't always eat hard things. (If you're fishing for shell crackers then that's a different story) www.novalures.com
  8. More drying time will help. I'd be interested in knowing what shape your master is. Sometimes the shapes are much more complicated than folks think. One bait in particular, that I designed, gave me fits. I finally had to make the master mold in 2 pieces; and that was for an open mold configuration. The bait I did was a legless lizard and I haven't shown that one yet as it's been my secret weapon in the tournys. www.novalures.com
  9. They look really good I especially like the top and bottom ones. www.novalures.com
  10. Pete; the softer the plastic the more realistic the action will be. Also, some freshwater fish can be very picky at times; so the more action the bait has, the better reaction the fish will give. Softer plastic also has a "hold factor" to it. Meaning, the softer the plastic the longer the fish will hang onto it. Basically that's the theory. Saltwater guys want a harder plastic because ; in my opinion; most of the big water fish have teeth and the need for a more durable bait is required. I'm sure that there is a happy medium somewhere in the hard/soft scale, of plastic, that will allow more flexiblilty while only giving up some of the durability. Personally I wouldn't care how many baits I went through as long as I was catching fish. So, I would not give up very much softness to the baits I would pour for saltwater. Just my 2 cents. www.novalures.com
  11. Thanks Ted. Your spinnerbait is really good as well. I used to make topwater wood baits some years ago; but I'm afraid that I'm not as good a painter as you are. I guess everyone has their nich. www.novalures.com
  12. Further to a "buzz" word list; I think it would be more helpful to the newbie to list them by catagory. softbaits; hardbaits; wirebaits, etc. That would make the searching and the learning curve a little shorter for them. www.novalures.com

    Tiger stripes

Dark color is poured first by passing the cup/pot back and forth across the molds. Then the second color fills the molds. Right? www.novalures.com
  17. Delw; you gonna put the fuzzy dice on the wind screen? lol I just finished re-decking and rugging a friend's bass boat. I should have taken before and after pics. Boat came out really nice. www.novalures.com
  18. Just do a search. There was quite a bit of discussion about it as well as oil pastel colors. www.novalures.com
  19. I found that if you are pouring heavy salted baits in an open mold you have to flour the salt fo it to suspend. www.novalures.com

I like that POP. You could get the same effect if you have a chainsaw. Just start it up and set it on the table. www.novalures.com
  24. It was just and idea Jerry. I'm not up on all the background costs involved in this type of venture. If I have any more ideas I'll run them out here. Maybe one of them will spark an idea from another member. www.novalures.com
  25. I think there may be other ways to raise funding. Why not an online store where members can sell their product through TU where TU would receive a % of each sale. I think a lot more members would agree to this than a signup fee. The store would allow members ,who are thinking of selling to the public, to test the saleability of their products. For the members who just pour for themselves it would allow them to offset their costs of making baits. For the guys like myself who have a website it would allow them more acess to the web as well as customers. www.novalures.com
