  1. I've got those as well but sometimes the seal will pinch or come out of it's channel and cause an air leak. When this happens you will run into trouble. www.novalures.com
  2. There is a thread on here for pouring lizards and what is said on that one is the same thing you should be doing for this bait. Run a search for it. www.novalures.com
  3. I use super glue. It works best if you get the adhesive off the back of the eye before you put the super glue to it. If you are dipping a layer of plastic over the eyes you don't need to glue them; the plastic will hold them in place. www.novalures.com

Coosa, it's still going to be pork fat any way you do it unless it's done artificially. www.novalures.com

You can already get baits with pork fat in them. The problem is that pork fat will turn white in the water. As far as making coffee scent; the way I did it was to soak coffee grinds in softner and then pass it through a coffee filter, unless you want the grinds in it as a glitter-type additive. www.novalures.com
  6. Sometimes the neatest things happen by accident. Nice looking bait. www.novalures.com
  7. The only problem with"salted" baits in a plano box is that if you live in a humid or damp area the salt will draw moisture from the air and the baits will swell and the salt will be depleated. I keep mine in a plano box but I put them in ziplock bags and sqieeze as much air out of the bag as I can. www.novalures.com
  8. Thanks. www.novalures.com
  9. Are they tempered glass like pyrex? How many ounces and how wide across the top? Thanks. www.novalures.com

I agree Hookedsolid. Mine was the black over gold. Caught the biggest smallie I've ever hooked; 23 1/2"; prefishing for a tourny in the early 90's. Then like you said, they changed it all. I really don't know why folks always try to "fix" something that already works. Berkley does it also. Oh well; it leaves the door open for us, lol. www.novalures.com
  11. Wouldn't the funnel spout clog up with the cooling plastic? Seems like that would be a pain. www.novalures.com
  12. The problem with fiberglass resin (I found the hard way) is that as the heat increases it will warp but worse than that it gives off a smell which finds it's way into the plastic. And it's not a good smell. Is it possible to cut tempered glass from a pyrex dish (flat) and glue it inside the pyrex cup? www.novalures.com
  13. Very neat idea, I like it. My next thought is to swirl the bait; put it on a lazy susan/turntable. You will have to "center" each pour hole so that you are not chasing it around to pour the bait. www.novalures.com
  14. From what I see there it looks like a dark pumpkinseed over a light pumpkinseed. www.novalures.com
  15. The problem with an air space; the way I see it; is that air expands with heat and that may be enough to crack the plaster over time. www.novalures.com
  16. How about this idea............... Take a waterpipe heater( heater tape) and imbed it in the plaster around the pyrex. It puts out only enough heat to keep a pipe from freezing so it shouldn't yellow the plastic. I'm sure that the guys in the colder climates know what I'm talking about. Actually, this could be used for ordinary pouring as well. www.novalures.com
  17. Can you post a picture? www.novalures.com
  18. Try putting more that one coat of sealer on the molds. After it dries take a look at it and if it has a shine to it your baits should as well. Sometimes it can take 2 or 3 coats to get there. www.novalures.com
  19. Not bad Sgt. What did you coat the mold with? www.novalures.com

    teflon coating

I have to ask this. What are you trying to coat and why? www.novalures.com

    Glue to use

I simply use the cheapest super glue I can find. I get mine at the Dollar Store. 4 tubes fo a buck. www.novalures.com

Let me clarify guys. I wasn't suggesting that anyone was highjacking this thread. What I was saying was that if someone starts a thread about sofbaits and then all of a sudden it changes to, say rod building, than that is not nice. I do realize that threads do take on a life of their own and will, over the course of discusion, evolve into something that only resembles the origional thought. That is ok by me because that is what will happen naturally in an open forum about a not so simple hobby. I'm not a puter nut so I didn't realize that the numbers are not a "true" reflection. My bad. www.novalures.com
  24. If you want to have consistant colors than you have to develop a recipie book and only mix it as you need it. Make sure when you do your recipies that you use even numbers for the plastic volumn so that you can 1/2 it or double it without creating problems with the color amounts. eg: 4oz plastic. There are lots of recipies in the sticky that will help. www.novalures.com
  25. Randy is right on. I will double and sometimes triple the amount of flake in black plastic. It's the only way to ensure that some of it will show. www.novalures.com
