  1. Ok guys; here's the eyes, lol. Tape is punched out with hole punch, then the glass paint is applied then the black. The colored paint is almost transparent but the black covers nicely. Then I thin 2 part epoxy with alcohol and apply it as a drop to the eye. These have a "dome" to them but not quite high enough for me so I'll play with the amount of alcohol I thin the epoxy with so it makes it a little thicker. If you try this you can only do as many eyes as it takes for the epoxy to set up. www.novalures.com

    Origional Designs

Thanks. They are a bait that I designed called "The Grumpy". These are poured with the same formula I use to pour my sticks.(lots of salt) The ones on my site are poured without salt. www.novalures.com
  3. Check out the sticky in the softbait forum. There are more than you need there. www.novalures.com
  4. Markers are ok but they don't cover as well as you might think and they might bleed. www.novalures.com
  5. Braveviper. Yep at Wallyworld. Comes in a kit under $6. It says the paint will withstand 350 degrees F. www.novalures.com
  6. Vodka; try resin; it'll last longer, lol. www.novalures.com
  7. Braveviper; I'm working with a piece of holographic tape I had laying around and glass paint. www.novalures.com

    Tube Swimmer

The top is watermelon brown with a drop of black. The bottom is 3 drops white to 4 oz plastic. The rest of the coloring is highlite powder applied on different layers. I have another version of this bait posted that I made applicaters from .035 wire in the shape of a pec fin and that is put on with lumina black. www.novalures.com

    Swim Baits

Very very nice Swamp. I agree with Chris; the top one is my favourite as well. Maybe call it coppernose. www.novalures.com
  10. Is that scale on the inside or outside. I'm working right now on making my own 3D eyes. I'll report on it later. www.novalures.com

    POP???

POP is simply plaster of paris. If you do a search here you will find all kinds of instructions to get you going. Welcome and good luck. www.novalures.com
  12. Sorry I can't help you more as I have never poured a craw bait. I can only give you general info on it. I think you'll find that if you seal the mold well the plastic will flow a lot easier. Plastic will stick to untreated POP. www.novalures.com
  13. I have several questions for you. Did you allow or bake the mold to dry completly? Did you coat the mold with something(epoxy, etc) several times? In order to get the extremities to pour for some baits you have to make vent holes to allow the air to escape so th cavities will fill completly. www.novalures.com
  14. Funny you say that Jim. I say the same thing when I get folks calling me MR or sir.lol:) Good luck with your booth. www.novalures.com
  15. I told ya all before; we're going to have to call him "Mr. Jim" from now on. lol. Just kidding buddy; nice baits. Is that a core? www.novalures.com

Tooth brush and kerosene should work. www.novalures.com

    Same bait with a twist.

Here's the same bait without the paddletail and with gill and gill covers. As well as fins. Sorry for the quality of the pic. www.novalures.com

    Fall Largemouth

Damn Mike; when did you move to Fla.,lol. Nice fish. www.novalures.com
  19. Let me make one thing clear. I'm not a tube maker( I haven't made 2 dozen tubes in my life); I just enjoy solving problems or thinking of new ways to do something. Mike, you misunderstood or I messed up. I used lacquer thinner when I sprayed to get a scale pattern. Then I thought; why should I just copy what someone else is doing? That's not the way I set up Nova Lures. I'm always looking for something different. What I was trying to copy was an Atlantic salmon fry. The highlite is put on with a brush and the gills were put on with the edge of a spoon. You could "thin" the highlite and paint it on if you wanted. www.novalures.com

    Tube Swimmer

I've burnt myself more times than I care to remember in the last 17 years doing this. Thanks; yes I did make the iron. I added a vertical tail to it as you can see but what you don't see is the indent on the back side of the paddle. I did both of these things to stiffen the tail up. www.novalures.com
  21. This is a little differnt Nathan. It's put on in layers. It gives an almost 3D effect. www.novalures.com
  22. That was with lacquer thinner. Thanks for the comment, I was pleasantly surprised at how it came out. www.novalures.com
  23. You don't necessarily have to go with scales. Check out the gallery and see what I just posted. www.novalures.com

    Tube Swimmer

Here's a tube swimbait that I just did. It cost me two burnt fingers. There are bubbles in it but I had to rush it as my fingers were killing me. There are base colors and then nothing but clear after. The idea for this came to me at 4:30 this morning. www.novalures.com
  25. I can't begin to tell you guys how many times we've pulled 10" fish out of a 16" smallmouth's throat over the years. Smallies don't know their own size. They will take on almost any fish that is smaller than they are. www.novalures.com
