I made it 1/8" metal for the master mold only. After you pour our some baits to make the production mold the slot will only be 1/16" in the POP. www.novalures.com

Willy; I assume you mean the hook flap. You need to use a piece of material that will take the heat. (metal works good) It has to be about 1/8" thick. It also has to extend down into the POP and be anchored with epoxy. At least that's the way I did it for my master. www.novalures.com

You must put it before you heat. If you don't you run the risk of it clumping. Don't use very much of it and remember it must have a background color for it to work well. www.novalures.com

I wouldn't use any colors that had a solvent in it as it may react with the chemical composition of the silicone. Try using food coloring or clothing dyes. www.novalures.com

I like things that are "outside of the box". The lure looks really interesting. Maybe you should try it without the lip and the line tie on the top like a lipless bait. Looking at the shape it might just have a subtle wiggle. www.novalures.com -

Also if you hold the pouring pot a little higher the stream will thin out at a certain point in it's fall and then get fatter again. Try pouring some out at different heights and take notice where this thinning occurs. After some practice you will automatically know what height to hold the pot. Lower and slower for bodies and higher and faster for thin parts. The speed is the movement of the pot as you pour. If you don't understand my instructions, just ask. www.novalures.com

That's interesting Saint. Did the lighter bait get poured after a re-heat? Or, did a small amout of super blue highlight find it's way into the pot? That's the only 2 things I can think of. www.novalures.com

That's been tried here as well but with lobster bait. The herring is put into a barrel, covered and set out in the sun. After a while the fish oils rise to the top but the smell is a whole lot higher;lol. The main problem is that this mixture will get a lot smellier by the end of the summer if you put it into a large bag of baits. Now you might think that it is a good thing; but when you open the bag you will have a choice; loose your lunch or hold your breath, lol. www.novalures.com
