Has anyone tried permagloss? It's harder than wood pecker lips but is kinda high and doesn't like all paints.

Thanks for the help. I'll try on a junk rod first.

I have some rods that the cork is a little big in diameter. Is their a way I can sand these down to a more comfortable diameter?
