    RTV

I am going to make some molds this weekend and was wondering if I need to coat the worms before I pour the RTV on them? How long do they take to cure? Thanks Chris

    Salt

My thinking was that the lighter crystals would suspend easier. I also have found that the super fine salt turns the color opaque. Are you not having that problem with the salt that you are using? When you break a Senko into two you can see the crystals and they are not "flour" sized. You said that when you break yours into two pieces when using this flourized salt that you get the same effect as breaking a Senko. I am not sure how that would work since the salt that you are putting in has crystals that are micro sized while the salt crystals you get when you break a Senko are much larger then that. So does that mean that the salt is combining somehow when it?s poured (not sure how that would happen)? If not then how could you add flourized salt and have it show up as visible crystals similar in size to the Senko's when you break the bait into two? Chris
  3. Do you know if they carry the regular?
  4. The company (Harvey Salt) that I have been dealing with didn't actually have any on hand so they had a 5-pound sample sent to me from Cargill. Now that I am sure this is what I want they are going to try and see how to get some in stock for me. The problem is that they must by it by the pallet and I obviously don't need or want a pallet so he is going to find another distributor that carries it and see about getting me a bag. Chris
  5. I did not personally try it but on a previous post to this site a person got some and tried it. Per his post it acted just like popcorn salt. I also did some research in regards to the size of the flakes in the Alberger fine salt and it is essentially the same as popcorn salt (At least the popcorn salt that I get). The Alberger Flake Salt is between popcorn salt and table salt in regards to size. If you get some salt from a Senko you will notice that it is smaller then table salt but larger then popcorn salt. I also spoke to the gentlemen where I was ordering from quite a while about the sizes of the flakes of the different Alberger salts. He said that the Fine Alberger was basically popcorn salt. I poured a few more batches and still am having great results with the Alberger Flake salt. I have found that if you keep the plastic just fluid enough to pour it helps keep the salt distributed even better. I have tried several batches now with 30+% salt and am very happy with the results. I did have just the slightest color change in a light watermelon batch that I did but it was so minimal I didn't care. Chris
  6. IThis is an update to an earlier post. I finally received my salt and it works great. I just got it tonight but could not wait to try a batch. So far I got to 25% salt without turning the color opaque. The salt that I ended up getting was the Cargill Alberger Flake Salt. There are many Cargill Alberger Salt types but just standard Alberger Flake is what I ended up going with. The fine is just like popcorn salt and turned the color opaque but the Cargill Alberger Flake Salt appears to work great. I am going to run some more tests tomorrow night and will update the posting. 8. From the info that I have read I am guessing that the point of using the Alberger salt is because of the properties of the crystals. They are supposed to be lighter then regular salt crystals. I think that I am going to order some of the regular Alberger and see what happens. I will keep you posted.
  9. Docirv which version of the salt did you buy? I believe that it would make a difference. The salt that you find in Senkos is finer then table salt but more course than Popcorn salt. I think that it may be the regular Alberger. Chris
  10. I was wondering how the Fine Alberger salt worked that I read about in an earlier post. I am looking to order some but when I spoke to AL at Harvey Salt he said that the Fine Alberger is th popcorn salt. I have found that popcorn salt clouds the baits when you put anything close to the amount that Yamamoto puts in his. I was thinking maybe to order the regular Alberger but was hoping for some guidence. Thanks Chris
  11. First let me say this site has been a tremendous help in getting me up and running (or at least walking). When you pull your worms from the mold do you let them sit before you put them in the bag with some oil? Will adding scents to them in the bag mess them up? I also read in another post here someone said that if you put them in salt water they would absord the salt. Is that true? Thanks for the help Chris
  12. I have just started pouring my own baits and am having trouble creating a color. I am trying to create the Garry Yamamoto Watermelon with large green flake. I really like that version of watermelon but can't seem to get it. My version is not as deep green even when I add more color. My current closest receipt is 1/2 cup 536, 4 drops heat stabilizer, 16 drops watermelon and 1 drop black(just added this part to try and darken it up). All lurecraft supplies. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Chris
