Jed, Nice fish! I thought I let one through down here. Aren't springers great! Hope you guys upriver have better luck than we did below Bonneville. I went 0'fers for about 6 trips. Did the willy and Columbia anchoring and trolling. Nada Still would like to talk to about that shrimp thingy you made. PM me. Gregg
  2. An Update- While I still feel their pricing increase(27% ), was unreasonable especially since I just received my 2004 catalog today, LC did do a great job of shipping the purchase quickly. I ordered it Wednesday, received it Saturday. That was faster than expected.
  3. So if I use Pro Tec paint, what kind of CHEAP clear coat can I use to protect the paint? Do I apply it after the paint is cured and cooled? and should I cure the jig again after the clear coat is applyed? If I use Devcon 2-Ton as a clear coat, should I thin it with acetone so it is "paintable"?
  4. Ok, so Del and I finally worked out some new molds. Now I am ready to begin pouring my own. All excited. Ordered the molds, plastic and oil from Del. Gotta get glitter and color and etc, etc. So everyone says LC is the way to go not to mention they are less on most items compared to Barlow and others (I've got the spreadsheet to prove it) I get home, look through my LC catalog, write it all out so I don't overspend. Get to work, first thing- call to LC. order placed . But she needs to call me back to confirm pricing (HUH?) She leaves me a message this afternoon- WOW 27% HIGHER than calculated from the catalog And because the unit pricing went up, I had to pay higher shipping too. (so don't tell me they don't make $ on s&h they're not sending anymore than before and USPS rates did not change this week) I call her back. "What catalog are you using?" she asks "2003, the only one I have received" I said. "Oh, that's the problem, we just sent out the 2004 last week and we changed all pricing to reflect that" she says. Had I placed my order last week, all would have been at the old pricing $49.99 vs $63.41 One week to deliver new catalogs? Not via USPS to the left coast. Not the best way to treat a new customer. Back to the spreadsheet to update (once I get a new catalog that is). LC has left a bad taste in my mouth that I am sure that will surface on any future orders.
  5. Thanks Del for all your hard work. I am realy looking forward to using these molds.
  6. when using plaster or putty molds, do you still have to preheat the mold somehow?
  7. Has this tutorial ever been completed?
  8. Can someone post a URL to this article. I cannot seem to find it and am interested in learning to make tubes.
  9. Hello All, First post and new to the group. I wanted to make the formal introduction. I was guided to this site by another member I met while searching the Internet for molds. I am as green as they come to making my own tackle. I have been interested in making tackle for several years and finally starting to do something about it. I have poured my own lead for about a year. I pour jigs and weights for now (I have a never ending supply of lead). Being from the Pacific NW I do a lot of Sturgeon, Steelhead and Salmon fishing but also take an annual bass trip to Eastern Oregon every May. My oldest son (15y/o) is learning to do this with me as he loves to fish with his own creations. He caught his first springer last year on his own spinner (caught it all on tape too ). I hope to learn much from this site and appreciate all I have already learned just from reading old posts. My intention to to start out with soft baits to go along with my jigs. And then maybe get into hard baits. Don't have any real goal to sell publicly, mostly for my own use. I do have a small ministry I will use this for. Whenever I am out on the water, I hand out a small package that contains a jig with a soft body. The packaging includes a short tract and is titled JIGS for Jesus Is Gods Son. Anyway, thanks for the site allowing me to learn from you all. Gregg
