  1. You can buy the 19 Ga. Stainless wire at Ace Hardware. Here's a tutorial : Line ties made easy
  2. I quit doing business there because of the lack of communication. I check and answer my email several times a day, my business depends on it. When I contact a supplier I expect a reply at least the next day...not 4-5 days later. I wanted to order around 80 ballast weights and ended up having to go to BP and ordering Finesse weights to make my own. To me, filling orders is so much more important than building a web site or a new line of lures...take care of your customers first, and everything else will fall into place as time premits.
  3. Beautiful paint job, just awesome!!!
  4. That's what I use, the belt sander from Lowes. I adjust the table to the mose extreeme angle, swipe both sides, adjust table at a slightly less angle and swipe it again.....done. Sand paper from then one. I can work out 20 baits in a little over a half an hour..ready for plast-coating.
  5. I've had tons of ideas/inventions over the years only to see them realized through someone who had the financial resources to promote and mass produce. To bad for me, but hey, good for them...and I surely wouldn't go round calling them copy cats even if it was my idea a couple years before. I mean how many different shapes can a bait fish have? You got your rounder fishies and ya got your longer fishies and any combination in between. I think if we as bait makers copy anything, it's mother nature, not each other.
  6. TU Store. Most things I can't find are right in front of me, this is probably no exception. Do we still have a store at TU? Where is it if we do. Thanks, Terry
  7. Awesome looking bait, that's for sure.
  8. I tried locally. One place wanted $77 for a 24x24" piece. Other place wanted $250...can you believe that???? $250!!! Crazy!!! Skeeter fixed me up with some and where to get it at a good price. Thanks all.
  9. Thanks Bob, I've seen the naphta but had no clue what it was.
  10. All great responses...thanks a ton guys, very much appreciated.
  11. YUK, I just made 4 Balsa lures that look great, but somewhere along the line I got my big fat finger prints "on the lips" and it won't come off. I tried the rubber glove thing, epoxied the fingers together . Now I got 4 beautiful lures with ugly lips...how do you guys prevent this?
  12. I've been using Createx for almost 3 years now without an outside vent. I do all my painting in the basement and have never seen the need for an outside vent. I'm sure it's probably better for ya, but I don't even smell the paint anymore...A used range hood would work good I'll bet.
  13. Are there any hard core "rules" as to how big (length and width at the end) your crank bait lips should be? I'm making Balsa flat sided cranks, and I was just wondering. Thanks, Terry
  14. Thanks allot Skeeter...you got a PM.
  15. I'm haveing great difficulty locating some 1/16" Lexan for small crank bait lips. Anybody know of a place I can order some? Thanks a bunch.
  16. 50 drill presses? Wow!!! Anybody know if they sell that magazine on the racks?...or subscription only? Thanks
  17. Thanks a ton Coley, this is exactly the information I've been looking for...wonder if anybody has tried the "Plasti-Coating" on Bulsa instead of the Devcon to seal the wood.
  18. Thanks for your reply! I have zerro experience with it and wanted to give it a shot one a these days. I guess nobody else uses it neither.
  19. Wondering about Balsa, what's good, what's bad, and what is ugly about it? Where did you find the best priced and are there "grades" of Balsa wood?....and what would be best for crank baits?
  20. This has been a horrible year for me business wise, maybe because of the heat, I don't know. The advice given here so far is very very good...remember there ae no guarantees. I kind of bought what I needed as time went on..mostly just turning over the money I'd make into equipment and paints. I'd think I died and went to heaven if I moved 100 baits a month.... WTG Blackjack
  21. All you have to do is protect your prints from he get go. After your printing is finihsed and dry, spray a coat or two of " Krylon Workable Fixatif|1306" and they will never smuge or fade. (Available at Wally World)
  22. Heck yes!!!! I'm telling you, this is a good deal...if you don't jump on this I'm sure there are others here that will.
  23. I'd jump on that one if I were you. I bought mine "used" from Ebay for $30 including shipping two years ago and it's still going strong...you even get the rod with this one...great deal!!!
