  1. Go to http://www.dixieart.com, they have a great selecion of airbrushes at very good prices. I have the Badger 155 Anthem, the whole set cost like $69 and I love it.
  2. I have a Sears 2 gal compressor that looks about the same. I honestly don't think you could go wrong with that price...I paid $99 for mine. Bought a moisture trap at Auto Zone for it too and it's been on there for almost 2 years and there's still no water in it, but it's probably a good precaution to have on there.
  3. Don't buy it at Janns, go to a fabric store or fabric department...you can buy it by the yard for about the same price Jann sells a little piece.
  4. I thought for sure you guys were pulling our legs on glueing the netting to the lure....come on, do you really????? What happens to the glue??? What happens to the lure you glued it to? Does the Glue stick on netting Or on the lure when you're finished and rip it off?
  5. I can't imagine glueing the netting to the bait...never heard of that. I bought a pack of close pins at the dollar store and cut the ^^ ends off on the bandsaw to make the ends square so they'd be able to get right next to the belly of the lure. Just cut a piece out big enough to cover your lure, double it over the top and close pin it all along the bottom pulling it snug as you go. If your material is too stiff, run it through the washing machine and let it drip dry. This is how I started also, refurbishing lures...first mine then for other people. It's been a fun ride so far and I'm still learning and experimenting all the time. Just don't get frustrated, none of us learned what we know in a day...I wish I knew what some a these lure makers forgot. If you need any help at all, please don't hesitate to ask, that's what this site is all about..or PM me or email me anytime.
  6. I bought one at Sears for $99.95 with a 2 gal tank and it works just fine.
  7. Shoot me a PM or email anytime...I'll see if I can help ya out there. custompaintedlures@tclarkcustompaintedlures.com
  8. An answer to the exact same question I had from Lure Hardware. Great people, great service.
  9. Hope this helps ya, well at least this is what I do. I sand the seams with 800grt sandpaper, then white primer coat...can be white Createx. After the initial paint scheme I then shoot a coat of Createx Clear Coat. The reason I do this is because if I mess up on an eye, a gill, shad spot...whatever, I can easily wipe it off without messing up the initial paint scheme. I've had to start over many many times on an other wise great paint job because I didn't know about the "clear coat". Then after the clear coat I add the eye's, gills, shad spot....what ever. Then top coat with Devcon 2 Ton epoxy you can find at Wall-Mart for $1.97 a tube. I also help things along with a hair drier on the paint and the clear coat....not the Epoxy.
  10. Never seen a crank bait with a shotgun. What do you mean by "hunt"???
  11. I've had trouble getting everything centered and have wasted time and material making mustakes and drilling a little right or left. I've solved this problem and want to share it with you guys. Take a look see. Hope it helps some body.
  12. I usually primer, then work from the belly up so over spray is no big deal here. On the backs, try holding it (lure)upside down; this eliminates lots of over spray caused by gravity.
  13. I have a Badger 155 Anthem and bought the kit for about the same price. You can't go wrong with $69.95 for that kit...has 3 different nozzles with it...I don't know but I'd think it's a great first airbrush to start with. I want the Iwata, but I don't "need the Iwata", if that makes any sense.
  14. NO!!!! That's a horrible price. If your heart is set on this model, you can get the same set for $69.95 from Dixie Art If you have $112+ to spend on an air brush, I'd go with One Of These Hope this helps ya out some.
  15. WOW!!! That's incredible!!!
  16. Awesome lure!!! How long do you supose it'll take to get here??
  17. The overhead projector film works great for stencils. I mostly use stencil stuff you can get at Wall-Mart for a couple dollars. It's in the craft section and comes in a long sheet...about the color and thickness of the plastic your milk jugs are made of. You can also run it through your printer instead of free hand if need be too.
  18. Hi Martin, I shoot between 20-35 psi, different days, different preasure sometimes. No, you do not sand Createx. I use Devcon2Ton Epoxy from Wall-Mart for the top coat. Do all your sanding before you paint the lure. A mix of Windex and water does a great job on cleaning your airbrush. I use 10 parts water to 1 part Windex. Lots of ways to do these things, this is just how I do mine.
  19. I hate when ya want to give it "one more turn" and it breaks down inside the bait.
  20. Is this the kind you're talking about? http://www.cornerhardware.com/productdisplay.html?item_id=263617 I'd love to try this too, want to make sure it's the right one. _
  21. It is an honor and a compliment in the highest reguard, I know I'd a been blessed by it.
  22. Ok, I do mine a little different and it saves me time. First I use Gloss photo paper for the fish picture. After printing, I shoot the picture with Krylon "Workable Fixatif". This will put a clear coat over the photo and protect it from smudges and over spray. (this stuff dries in a couple minutes) The beauty of this is you don't have to use 2 coats of Devcon or what ever else you use. 1. Print the picture on Glossy Photo Paper 2. Shoot it with the Krylon Fixatif 3. Cut it photo out and match it up with your lure/both sides. 4. I use elmers wood glue. I lightly sand (800grt) the back of the photo paper. Then a drop of elmers on ther lure and spread it with my finger...thin coat is all it takes. Align your photo and begin to burnish from center out. You CAN adjust the photo if ya miss your mark a little. Do both sides the same and make sure all edges are secure/down. 5. Your ready to paint the top and bottom of the lure. Just paint as you normally would but try not to get too much on the photo. This is the beauty of using the photo paper and a clear coat (Fixatif)on top of it. Any and all paint comes right off using a wet paper towel or a q-tip. 6. Add the eye's and you're ready to top coat. 7 out of 10 times one coat of Devcon is all it takes...the other 3 times maybe a lil corner or birds eye. Mostly they all come out perfact. Photo's below are a couple Photo finishes I do on a regular basis. Hope this helps somebody like this site has helped me over the past few years.
