  1. I would highly suggest going to your local library and getting a few books on wod turning. That's what I did cause the last wood I turned was in the 60's in shop class. You will find a wealth of information and tips and tricks you can "see". Also covers woods, speeds, chisels and more.
  2. That is totally awesome. I wouldn't fish that neither. What a true craftsman. thanks for sharing that!!
  3. Made sure I mentioned TU in this interview This is a site built for the Tournament Co-Angler's side of tournament bass fishing.
  4. Thanks Tuff-Tackle, That's where the confusion was, it was "clear lacquer" to mix paints in, not "lacquer thinner". I got it straight now, thank you so much. You got a PM
  5. I've never noticed Laquer Paints, but then again, I've never shopped for them neither. Then I read here that you can add color to Laquer Thinner to make what ever color you want. My question is: Is there Laquer Paints out there? Or is it all Laquer Thinner with color added??
  6. I also have a JET MINI lathe and love it. I've made some nice Muskie lures with it. You get what you pay for...remember that. I don't think you can go wrong with a JET mini lathe though.
  7. The "fine wire wrap" is magnet wire I got at radio shack 315' for $6. Thanks guys, I'll let ya-all know how it works out. I just wanted to run it past you guys with experience before I went and made a bunch of em.
  8. I'm a horrible wire twister/bender...sore fingers, holes poked in my fingers, and more importantly not too straight. I thought there has to be an easier way...do you guys thing this will work out ok?
  9. I use a Badger Anthem 155 and I sharpen my own needles with super fine 800 grit automotive sand paper. I did get a bur on the tip somehow and just kept hitting it with the 800 grit till it was gone.
  10. I've been using the Original Air Brush colors from the beginning. I use a hair dryer when I need a quick dry time both on the paints and the clear coat. I've had no trouble with these paints what so ever. Here's a look at a lure pak I just finished for an amateur pro staffer. I'd love to get into the Auto Air that Createx offers, but for the price difference, I'll stick with the original for now.
  11. I use regular Createx Airbrush Paints and a hair dryer, have had no problems what so ever. Also the Clear Coat I use the hair dryer too.
  12. Great post and illustration. I'll look forward to the reply's on this one. How did the photo finish lure turn out?
  13. Hi Skeeter, I use "Dupli-Color" white sand-able primer I found at Advance Auto Parts Store...fast drying too. Works great on wood and plastic baits and even "fills" small scratches or blemishes...with added coats when needed.
  14. Awesome web site, best I've seen. Awesome baits too, wonderful imagination, I really enjoyed your site.
  15. Scotch Gard Pads will quickly remove any "sheen" from using min-wax products and they're ready for the primer coat.
  16. That would be a little more than scary I'd think...even just thinking how many "hungry eyes" are watching you I saw a piece on discovery channel about Tigers in Siberia and the man eaters there. They eat EVERYTHING. Only thing found of this one guy was a little bit of his clothing and a finger. How strong a bite these animals must have to eat our skulls, arm and leg bones too...eeek, a gruesome thought.
  17. Here's one on the end of a Senco.
  18. Seal the wood...Min-Wax products work well. Primer, I use white auto sandable primer. Paint the belly of the lure, then the sides, then the top. Add eyes, gills, fins...whatever. Top coat...eithet etex ot Devcon 2 ton Remember everything must be centered, line tie and hook eyes, Weight for ballance. Probably something I may have missed...oh yea, the lip after sealing the wood.
  19. Hey Rob, great to meet ya...nice job!!!
