  1. Jeff, lost your email in the last PC crash. Please shoot me an email. thanks Terry
  2. Moose, where do you get that stuff you have on the rear treble hooks? Looks holographic.
  3. Tally, I thought of that but didn't know if it was ok to do it that way. So, you just carve your bait, top coat it, paint it, and then top coat again? Thanks, Terry
  4. Whats the best way to "seal the wood" before painting on wood cranks and muskie baits?
  5. very nice!!! I really like the rear hook dressing too.
  6. Thanks RiverMan, I'll check that out....I'm learning.
  7. I have Acetone and never thought of it . If there is a "next time" I'll try that.
  8. Oh man, let me tell you, (and no offense intended here to anybody) that was the most horrible job I've ever had. I couldn't get the knife under it to "peel it right off". I tried to "boil it" for no more than 1 minute, the trap looked like a prego bass and lop-sided at that. So I ended up throwing it away and buying a new one to replace it and refinish that one. After tihs experience, I'm really sold on Devcon...tuff stuff for sure. If I couldn't get through it, what chance does a mere fishie have... even the toothy ones.
  9. Hi MaddoxBay, I just used eye's from Janns Netcraft, 5/32" (paper)I think. On the others I used 1/4" 3-D eyes, also from Janns.
  10. Here's my Bluegill, man I'm having a blast with this...the ideas are endless. I have you pro's to thank for YOUR great posts and instruction and really neat tips. THANK YOU!!!
  11. I tried the Decal paper and didn't care for it. Different strokes for different folks. I got "wrinkle city" on the edges with the Decal paper, when trying to straighten it out it then folded "under", tried to straighten that out, wrinkles again. I had NO problems at all with the photo paper...and it's way less expensive and easier to work with. Time isn't a factor, my goals are quality craftsmanship.
  12. That is way cool, I really like that color. Great job!!!
  13. My very first Photo Finish lures. Thought yaal should see em first.
  14. I tried it once with the decal paper. That thing slides all over the place and I found it dificult to get around the edges smooth...they tended to wrinkle in places. Should I cut small V's into the edges? I also found the Krylon "Workable Fixatif|1306" at Wal Mart. Mircro Mark sells it for a higher price and their number is "1306A", so I don't know if there's a difference in it or not...but this stuff worked just fine. Probably just need more experience with it.
  15. I cannot find ANYBODY that carries Etex Lite and I've looked hard. You're spraying Etex in your air brush? What are you cleaning it with? Do you add anything to the mix other than Etex lite? If so, what measurements would you use to do 2 - 3 lures. Thanks Terry
  16. I use the water based createx paint, not sure if that's the same as Acrylic. I may get an education on this one too.
  17. I have no trouble at all with Devcon. Mix with plastic or metal stir in plastic cup. When it clears, breathe on it a couple times and restir. It will clear rather quickly, then apply. Make sure it's Devcon 2 ton epoxy. Take your time with it,all brush strokes will disapear in the drying process. I turn my baits for 30 min on the drying wheel. You want to buy one, I got em to sell or trade. lures@tclarkcustomlures.com Take Care, Terry
  18. Brief acetone rub??? Yall have a safe trip Chip, and catch some a them green fishes in N.C. fer me, will ya?
  19. I'm willing to try anything once, so how do you apply it? Dip it? Or brush it on? How many coats? How many lures will the Envirotex Lite Kit 32 oz cover? Thanks for the info Chipster.
  20. FishBooger, I use Createx all the time...depending on the project, but mostly use opaque, pearls, and fluorescent paint. With the "basic" colors you can make a wide variety of shades and different color's. Black, White, Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, Brown, Orange, etc. etc. Right now I'm working on some Matzuo topwater lures, Traps, and a couple Lucky Craft Sammy's. Most products have one or two things ya just don't like about them. With the Createx paints I have yet to find just one. I have found they "look" better over a white primer coat. I use white auto primer for this purpose cause it will fill any little blemishes you might have created or missed during sanding. (ever have a lure sanded to perfection and then drop it and put a nice big ding into it ...gggrrrr) Hope this helps ya.
  21. LOL...a sample ad maybe? This penetrating lure dives into those deep dark crevices you only dream about. Those BIG female spawners just LOVE the zig zagging action and overall performance you get with a "One Eye Wonder Lure".
  22. Thanks allot Coley. That was a very informative thread and some great looking baits. I'm thinking the Laser Jet Printers may work better here than the ink jet, especially on the Decal Paper. Any thoughts or views on printer preferences?
  23. I'm very interested in trying this...or at least experimenting a little. I did a search on the subject and didn't find much information. Feel free to email me, or PM. terry1clark@peoplepc.com
  24. Hit the Createx with a hair dryer, dries in a minute or two.
