  1. Great news and WOW what a catch. I'll bet Russ's heart was a pounding big time seeing that monster after his bait. Great Job!!!
  2. Thanks Bill...and everybody else here too...back to the drawing boards.
  3. Thanks guys, the bait is made from Poplar, 3/8" thick and 2 5/8" from nose to tail and 1 1/8" from back to belly. Then the bill angle and thickness don't matter that much? Thanks for your input How can I get it right "every time"???
  4. I made a few lures a couple different colors and they will not run right. I need some suggestions. The picture is below. The bait sits perfactly in the water, crank it 2 times and it flops over on it's side and stays there. Could it be the "bill angle", the width?...any ideas? I also moved the line tie twice, no change in behavior. Thanks for your help.
  5. I've also read that you can add 5 drops of rubbing alcahol to the epoxy mix to thin it. Haven't tried it yet though.
  6. Well, welcome to you. I feel the same way, this site is awesome. Your work is also awesome. Love to talk to you about that bluegill paint job. It's got to be THEE best one I've ever seen. terry1clark@peoplepc.com And thanks.
  7. Heck yes, I'd love to have some a them. Caught lots a walleye on flatfish and beno's. Shoot me an email for address, ok? terry1clark@peoplepc.com
  8. I went to http://www.riverruntackle.com/ and didn't see anything about lure lips or anything about lure building components..nadda, nothins. Is this the correct link? Thanks
  9. Love it, good idea and the graphics look great. Where did you get this done? Looks great!!!
  10. Sorry DeVeryTY, but I'm not getting a link to view your eyes :
  11. Thats great Dave, and thanks for posting this....one thing you left out...where do ya get this adhesive transparent film? Thanks, Terry
  12. Yep, I did get that off Chip and those exacto handles work great. I Also built a drying wheel from a tutorial from this site. It works GREAT!!! I have 2 wheels on it now, but can add 2 more if I need them. Total cost was under $25 total. The pegs are PCV pipe, and lures like the Rattle Traps I tape the exacto knife handle to the peg...no muss no fuss.
  13. OK, where do I buy a small jewler's needlenose pliers with teeth?...lol I'll try anything.
  14. Wow, those are awesome color's, I really like the upside down idea...I never would a thought a that. Wonderful job, just wonderful. I really enjoy seeing the artistic talent on this site.
  15. Well I'm glad I'm not alone on this one. I've been thinking about shipping lures without the hooks and split rings on...let the customer fight with em...lol I did do that with the open eyes for my home made baits, but for commercial cranks, shad baits, and Rogue's I'm stuck with the drudgery of trying to add split rings to hooks, Thanks for your reply's, I was kind of hoping there was a magic solution I didn't know about. Split ring pliers are worthless...I know, how about paper clips...lol...I wish.
  16. I use the handle off an exacto knife, then tape it to (peg)something that fits on the drying wheel. Hope this helps ya.
  17. Does anybody else hate split rings? I swear I can paint 2 lures by the time it takes me to put 3 little split rings on the hooks and lure...I HATE EM!!!
  18. Well Tim, without your help it wouldn't a been possible, I truly thank you!!! I never would a thought of making a stencil, let alone what to make it out of and where to get it. Also the tip about the clear coat, the dots and the eye's. These have all helped and saved me a ton of time and wasted paint...and my temper...lol I truly love this site, ALL you guys have helped me in one way or another. I love seeing your works of art. You are a bunch of GREATLY skilled craftsman and again, thank you. Terry
  19. Hughesy, thanks to you I was able to paint these Rogue's. Please let me know what you think...or anybody else for that matter. Thanks so much for all your help!!!
  20. allstate48. I'm relatively new here and I didn't like the cretex paints much neither UNTILL I painted a bait AND top coated it with Devcon 2 Ton. It brought out the colors like I couldn't believe. If you haven't tried this, you may want to give it a try.
  21. Oh, Ok, thanks Hughesy, never thought of that.
  22. I just bought a Rogue and it looks like there was netting glued to the body before painting it. It really has a very nice effect...looks like scales but slightly raised a little. Is any one doing this? If so, what glue are you using? Any tips? Thanks, Terry
