  1. Colorado Blades work great as a bill for jerk and crank baits and they come in lots of different sizes.
  2. Got one on mine and for 3 years nothing has ever been in it.
  3. That's how I do it, with an exacto knife. I lay the plastic down on a payne of glass after I've drawn or traced a pattern. Then cut it out with the knife. It's the cleanest way I've found. I've tried burning and using a bit on the dremal, the knife is just easier in the long run.
  4. I lay the bait down on paper a towel folded 3-4 times, then hold the stencil with one hand and shoot with the other.
  5. Your welcome...I had great fun making that and it's still catching fish. If you can find some sheet brass for the lip, that would be perfact. Not shown in the tutorial, I did add a little weight just in front of the belly hook, but if you use sheet brass you wouldn't need it. I also have a couple of those line ties... if you need them let me know.

  7. I have a guy wanting 3 bombers made and painted with a Matte finish. I've refurbished a few lures that had this finish on them but I have no clue how to do it. Anybody here know how it's done? Thanks a bunch, Terry

  9. EEEgads, didn't want to ruffle feathers here. As far as Tim is concerned, we swapped plenty of emails and he helped me a bunch with some finer points and detail work. I learned allot from him and he once stated he learned allot from me...what's wrong with that? We are not allowed to be friends? I don't equal myself to him or anybody else, I do my own thing like all you guys do. I just stated a few facts and I didn't even include some lure bodies some of YOU created that some of the big boys are selling now. Everybody worries about copying some company's baits...while those companies copy yours and think nothing of it. I think geography has lots to do with it, isn
  10. Got my BP catalog the other day and I see lots of crankbaits made by the big companies... Balsa baits included. Some sell for as little as $4.99. I also see custom colors of mine and some of Tim Hughes in the catalogs now being sold by the big boys. So, how could a little guy hope to be successful selling crank baits for four times what one could buy in BP? I'm constantly in the top 3 on Yahoo and Google search engines for "custom painted lures" and custom painted baits" and yet I've sold 4 lures last year. So if you buy into search engine ranking for success, it's just not true. Now I did lots of refurbishing for a couple striper fishing guides in PA, but lure sales in general went ka-blooy. Also if I didn't make baits I'd never pay $20 for a crank bait, I'd get me 4 or 5 from BP or Cabelas for the same price. Don't be down, you're not missing anything.
  11. Bob Barker is one of their biggest supporters. He was a huge factor in the plunge of fur trading. I used to trap and made some nice $$ on fox and coon hides. These people have money, clout, and celebrities to back them up. Not a lick of common sense...just bleeding heart S.O.B.'s
  12. Now that way cool...what a neat idea!!!
  13. Does anyone know how to do Reverse Scale Pattern like old Heddon Frog Scale ? I'm trying, but not happy with the end results.

  16. Kahle hooks or tripple grip...which i think tripple grips are anyway...you won't believe the difference. I need the pliers 98% of the time, they are hooked that good.
  17. Jed, sent you a PM the other day....I'm very interested!! Thanks, Terry
  18. 1) 3 dips into plasticoat 2) paint lure 3) clear coat with DEVCON (I've tried the devcon for sealing, the primer dips...I always go back to the plasticoat cause it's just easier, cheaper, and leaves your wood/foam baits protected by a rock hard coat of plastic that's ready to paint)
  19. Nice looking bait!!! I like the green over pearl...nice effect. First thing I thought of was "Green Apple" when I saw those...they're all nice baits!! Keep em coming.
  20. Thanks guys for the kind words. I was brain storming one day and this is what I came up with. Its primarily a jerk/glide bait, I make 2 models, one floating and the other sinking. YES, you'll want to lay into em with a good hook set. Yes I can paint ya anything you want. Please email me and we can talk, ok? custompaintedlures@tclarkcustomlures.com
