    eBay Heads Up

He got me for 5 molds/$65. Anyone know Ruppert in Page AZ? Neg feedback won't do any good - they closed his account after getting 4.
  2. McMaster - prt# - 10515K35 Ain't cheap.
  3. SS one advantage is the line tie (knot) stays in the same orientation - doesn't slide back and forth on the eye of the hook.
  4. You won’t find a better place to learn lure crafting. Use the search forms function. Answers a lot of questions before you have to ask.
  5. Great site LKN4DDB. Ordered alot of fastracs from Gene for Baja. He gets the right colors.

    Jig questions

Rlcam Use the search feature – it will answer a lot of your questions (probably faster then waiting for members to respond). Don’t know about 8month olds, way out of my field.
  7. Gman Can you get the "gun scrubber" at Bass Pro (we finally got one out here)? BLT Do you get a residual smell from the kerosene? Thnx for the input.

    Bass Jigs

snooterfish What is a "Float-N-Fly Jig"? Can you post a pic?
  9. Looking for ideas on cleaning soot from some older molds.
  10. "Or you can use a brush for the glitter paint by simply heating your jig and loading up the brush with glitter paint and tap the paint off the brush onto the jig" ditto - better control. You might want to change the mesh size (slightly larger) of you fluid bed screen to get better agitiation.
  11. Chuy Get a custom mold made. Do a word search on custom molds - there are a few custom mold makers listed. You will save time/money in the long run.
  12. Hola Bill Welcome aboard. This site really does cut down on the learning curve....
  13. Good stuff. Looks like you are tying the body a little short for a bait kicker, maybe? What size hook, manufacturer?
  14. Three good books are: 1. Streamers & Bucktails the Big Fish Flies – Joseph D. Bates 2. How to Make Your Own Lures and Flies – Mel Marshall 3. Anglers Guide to Jigs and Jigging – Ken Oberrecht Use the best materials and tools that you can afford. Ebay is a good source for fly tying equipment and materials. A visit to a local fly shop will help on you decide on what vise to get. I really like the Regal vises. Keep notes on your patterns.
  15. Wow – talk about sensitive… Agree with Jim “help and ye shall be helped...”
  16. I use the Lee IV for small jigs , two 4-20's for big stuff, and a hot pot for spinners and big stuff also.
  17. It' really easy - but like cadman says "take things slowly". Lay the hook on the mold, pay attention to the orientation, and mark the changes.
  18. billwv68 Interesting link. Did you email the guy for a price? The problem with retro fitting the lee pot is there isn't a cut off valve on the spout. If the unit is cheap enough you would probably be better off buying it then try to do it yourself. The temp control, scr's, and heating element could really run up the costs. Then you would have to get the rest of the materials and assemble them. The piston sounds a little more feasable as opposed to using a pressure blanket (predatorbassbaits injector). You aren't injecting cool air to move the plastic. Not sure how you would stir the plastic for salt or glitter.....

    Organic Lead

"organic lead" just doesn't sound right. I don't think I would use it........
  20. Try a three ringer binder and use the pastic sheets that are made for baseball cards. I use this method of storage for fly hooks and ultra-lite plastic baits.
  21. What kind of spinner baits, in-line?
  22. hawnjigs Get a bottom pour - safer and more control. You can put the sprue (on most molds) right up to the spout of the pot. Then it's a matter of finding the right angle to hold the mold while pouring.
  23. Ditto KYbassman and cadman - brushes and dipping provide better detail. The important thing is to practise. Use the search function for techniques and tools.
