  1. I have a Paasche AEC Air Eraser ? a miniature sand blaster ? purchased with the intent to use it for powder painting. I haven?t tried it yet. It will probably work great for single colors ? it is a top feed. The one advertised on luremaking.com is a bottom feed and looks more user friendly ? extra jars. I use paint brushes for multi color jigs with a hot air gun for my heat source. Very minimal clean up, reduces paint loss to almost none, and clean up is a breeze.
  2. "I looked in Mcmaster but found nothing. " Look for woven wire cloth and monofilament polypropylene mesh.
  3. 302/304 ? most popular, excellent corrosion resistance, Tinsel Strength (TS) 75,000-355,000 psi 303 ? has sulfur added to facilitate cutting and bending, TS 95,000-135,000 psi 316/316L ? More corrosion resistant than 302/304, TS for 316 is 100K-140K and TS for 316L is 185K-265K 410 ? is heat treatable, TS is 70K 430 ? not that different from 410 302/304 is probably the cheapest and more applicable for what you are trying to do. The thicker the diameter the harder it will be to bend. I use .051 302/304 for saltwater.
  4. Jasone You might want to try a swap with a TU member for your Devcon. Some of your finished lures or blanks for a couple of packs of 2T.
  5. Check out minaturemolds.com. They probably have the RTV your looking for.
  6. Have a package going out priority mail today. Thnx
  7. Try csipaint.com - they have some really good stuff.
  8. Just ran across this web site - www.shawncollinscustoms.com. Have to give this guy a call tomorrow for prices.
  9. McMaster ? Carr carries SS 302/304 (also know as music wire) up to .162 in coils and they have up to .063 in one foot and two foot lengths ($28.34 per 100 ? catalog 111 page 3459). They also carry 316 to .125, 316L to .125, 410 to .128, and 430 to .125 (120' ~ $50).
  10. Just got my new Lure-craft catalog and it looks like they are really stepping it up with the new owners. They are listing a high production ? high capacity - heated pressurized plastic pouring pot up to five gallon capacity. It's not cheap but on the same page they report that they are going to come out with one gallon models with or with out stirrers.
  11. Sounds like you have done your homework Kathleen. I would be very interested in co-op purchases. Hopefully something like this will work and those that want to participate can??.
  12. You guys might want to check out Will@willsplastics.com out of San Diego. He's selling aluminum CNC molds that seem to be cheap enough. I haven't personally dealt with him or bid on his molds but his feedbacks are up there. I think he has some molds that are coming off bid in a couple of days. Also, there has been another guy selling CNC molds on eBay as well ? will try to locate more info.
  13. You guys ? reeves and dlaery should do tutorials on spin casting and vulcanizing. Better yet if you guys could do a collaboration??. Thnx for the info
  14. reeves Would like to see your responses - if your not going to post will you copy on e-mail?
  15. The 1/32nds are small enough to paint with fingernail polish but the 1/8ths you might want to try powder paint. I powder paint some 1/64ths ? but not a lot and not often. Powder painting is probably the easiest for the larger size jigs.
  16. You might consider making your own molds. Try doing a word search - lots of info on this web site. Check out eBay for used molds. Hilt?s makes some molds that you might be interested in.
  17. Try Hilt's mold - they have a web site and I think you can order direct from them. You see them (with insert) come up on eBay every once in awhile but they sell almost at retail (~$35).
  18. East coast or West coast? Freshwater or saltwater? I fish out of Quepos - south west coast - both river and inshore.
  19. A good resource for micro mesh screen is McMaster/ Carr ? they have a web site. They aren?t cheap but they do have a lot of stuff in different materials. Pore size is measured in microns - particle size for powder paint is about 30 microns which = .0012 inches.
  20. Husky Nice looking custom jigs... Markell Sounds like the RTV needs an additive to let it flow better. Can't remember which web site has it - but there is something out there.
  21. KC You're right - they ain't cheap..... Charkbait is awesome - got some real good deals on rods/reels with them.
  22. Brad If all you are going to do is leaders, you are probably better off making a jig on a board with two nails. Some flush cutters and wire bending pliers and you're set. Wire benders and spare parts can get expensive. Check out eBay for used benders. Herter's are the same as Cabela's and Thompson's are the same as Bogg's.
  23. Markell Have you tried the high temp RTV yet? I still can't find time ? but one of these days?????
  24. Gamakatsu makes up to a 7/0 90 degree hook and they fit most do-it molds. Owner has a real good hook also but you might have to slightly modify your molds. Mustad and eagle claw have their "saltwater" hooks. I really like the VMC perma steel but they are getting harder to buy. Check out eBay for used molds. I don't have a tax ID # so I buy new molds from Shark River at ~ $25, if they don't have it they will order it.
