  1. rickg_3 Sounds like you might have to get a custom mold made ? might require a master. If you can make a master ? you can make your own mold also. Check out the tutorials and do a word search, there?s lots of archived information.
  2. Mold swap sounds real good. madbass Go to sports - fishing and type in mold in the word search.
  3. Good idea Mojo. I use ledhedtu and I am sure I've probably "stepped on a few members toes" while bidding on molds (mostly leadheads). I'm not looking to bid against any TU members and will back off if notified. Just picked up a lot of 11 LC molds with accessories, was more after the hotplate and cups. I would like to offer the molds, I don't want, as a trade on this site. Would rather see a member have first shot but I think the swap forum was shut down.

    Tying Jigs

Got some from Harbor Freight ? think the (6" model) was less than $10. Use them to make wire leaders for Sierra and Wahoo. Had to put heat shrink on the tips so it wouldn't gouge the wire leader (weakens the wire leader).
  5. Cj Let me know when and where?.. The BP opener in Diego could be an agenda. Would go to Florida to hook up with members and maybe do some fishing for Reds and Snook.
  6. You guys are awesome ? Thanx for the info. Richoc ? The Company out here is down in CJ?s area which is about an hour and a half from here. Will talk to you first ? if I go this route.
  7. Thanx Glaucus - lot of info.
  8. dLaery Do you have a manufacturer preference? Did a word search for ?spin cast? and ?metal casting? and didn?t come up with much. Do you think building one is an option (having access to bench top centrifuges)? The jig mold you posted, on a similar post, is what I am looking for (in smaller sizes). Are your molds hook specific or are you able to interchange different manufacturer?s hooks? What does it cost you to make your molds? Thanx for your advice.
  9. Also ? to Flats question ? Cost? Would appreciate information on initial cost and the price of molds.
  10. Great site JIGMAKER ? had to add it to my favorite, thanx.
  11. 3Cs At 5Lbs/$1 for good stuff - you should be stocking up. Can't have too much good stuff.
  12. Agree with Richoc, buyers beware on eBay. Picked up about 20 molds in the last two month and probably 40% are functional. Got a banana jig listed as new and it looked like one of the cavities was modified (useless). Found the same problem, warping, with the older Palmers. Got some mint Herter's and some nice Aments, also.
  13. Totally agree with Dean, a lie is a lie.
  14. Jerry Congratulations on your new addition. BTW check the date of birth -10/25/04.
  15. Beg, borrow, and shop? Just got 300 Lbs of the ?right kind? lead in sheets and 25 Lb blocks from a Baja buddy. Another fishing friend kicked in 5 buckets of wheel weights. Cost ? jigs/paint and the use of my molds.
  16. Shark River Mail Order - if they don't have the mold they will order it for you. I get my Yo-Zuri line from them also.
  17. Maze Hilts makes a roundhead mold in 1/80 (sz. 10 hook) and 1/100 (sz, 10-12 hook). They also make a crappie (tube) jig 1/64 (sz. 10 hook). You can trim some lead off of these jigs. I like to flatten the nose and angle it down like a lip. Use to tie a crawdad pattern on it - the tail tied on the lip made the jig look like a baby dad scooting away. Hilts is back in business but they aren?t cheap. If you are going to need a lot of jigs, you might want to get a custom mold made.
  18. banjoman Where at in Mexico you fishing? I fish up and down Baja ? will be at Mag Bay for a week in November. Don't like mainland too much. Lot of guys out here use bronze live bait hooks for the reason you previously mentioned. I think for the money you can't go wrong with the Mustad 32746 or the 32786 BLN jig hook. A smaller gap hook would be the VMC (another great hook) in the O'Shaughnessy style.
  19. Have you looked into the Mustad BLNs, gamkatsu 604s, and Owner saltwater. Also VMC has PS (perma steel). The bronze does rust and quick...
  20. Big D Can you post a pic? What size jig do you usually tie?
  21. Really like the idea, especially if it's helping out kids or a needy family. With a bit of luck, none of the Florida (and surrounding states) TU members will be on the "needy list". Hope all is well for the TU members down south. Would gratefully donate a pack or two of some jigs?..
  22. Cj If you need more leadheads - PM me your snail mail. Got some new H style jigs need someone to try. Still have a ton of shad9's. Hasta

    Funny Story

I think that's why I choose to remain "divorced"?.. Great site.
  24. Nice jigs. Did you make the mold and what size hooks are you using?
  25. How about for the ?bottom feed? using a 1?? X 3/8 piece of aluminum tubing ? flare out one end. Drill out the hole, on the bottom of the pot, a hair under 3/8 and press the tubing (flare inside the pot) into the bottom. Seal on the out side with high temp epoxy or RTV. Should work as long as the bottom of the pot is solid and not walled. Might be a pain to clean in between pours ? hmmmm.
