  1. Welcome into the underground Grimsbane. You are at the right place to hone your lurecrafting skills.
  2. MTFR Shine the insulated box idea - the compressor has to dissipate the heat that it generates. Doesn’t sound real safe. If you are only painting – no tools- the compressor (or something similar) that Vman is talking about should be sufficient.
  3. Ditto Tman2 – can’t hurt and just in case…….. Do you have attic space – might be easier going up? How about a smaller compressor for after hours? If you can get the wife to start tying flies the compressor/bed thing will probably go away.

Need your snail mail - thought I had asked before. Have some fly tying stuff you can probably use. Also have micro mesh screen for fluid beds if you need some..

  5. Welcome into the underground. Check out the tutorials on luremaking.com web site and tacklemaking.com is a good resource also. Give luremaking a call and explain your situation - they should make it right.

    New Here

Welcome into the underground. What's your poison?
  7. Celticav was a mod and he is sorely missed - use to host the wire bait lure swaps. BC - you can check out Cabela’s or any fly tying catalog for pictures. Ebay usually has a few listed – new and used.
  8. Wait another three months and it will start all over again............
  9. Un-waxed dental floss for a flat wrap. You can use permenate markers for colors.
  10. Check out tacklemaking.com.
  11. TJ “With all the excitement with contamination looks like fishing is going to be out. So maybe a couple days in Vegas it might just be.” Yeah – the snail thing is a real pain – had to deal with it in the Sierras last year. Vegas is easy to get to and there is a Bass Pro also. Anyone know about fishing conditions, during mid July, in Vegas? The one problem with ICAST - it is closed to the public. Not sure how many members TU can get in, or if redg8r is willing to consider this venture. A requirement of participation would be that members must submit a report or pictures of the ICAST show.
  12. Anyone interested in doing a TU gathering at the ICAST in Vegas??? Would be a great venue.
  13. Think it's the 2nd posting for it - seen it before.

Welcome into the underground CD & Kevster66.
  15. If you have access, try nitrogen in your fluid bed with the problematic paint. You might also try using small desiccant packets. Might want to contact the vendor - they might send you some new stuff.
  16. Try some red or red with holographic glitter. Most of my special effects paint comes from Columbia Coatings - bigger selecton - cheaper. Have used the Pro-Tec clear with different glitters - works great.
  17. I use a thermocouple reader with a hard probe or Type T thermocouple wire. Some advantages of using this combo - you don't have to open/close the door to verify the temp and it's way more accurate.
  18. Welcome into the underground diemai. Hope to see some pictures of your lures posted in the gallery.

    Hello

Welcome into the underground. You might be curing too hot and you might be placing your jigs too close to your heating element as well.
  20. Wooly Bugger - will catch everything and is an excellent fly to learn some fly tying techniques.
  21. Plastic would probably be a better option. Problem with glass is – rocks.
  22. Plan to fish surface – drag nymphs – attractors? Visit or call a local fly store – find out what the fish are after at the places you plan to fish. Check out the fly selections in fishing catalogs for ideas for flies. You can surf the web for sites that offer the “how to” tie certain patterns. Check out: flyanglersonline.com vitualflybox.com
  23. I get 304 stainless steel in 2' lengths from McMaster Carr. You can get it from .020 to .063 diameter.
