Thanks Rich! I have the 3X split ring and using 2X hooks. I don?t think I will get it to sink with the 3X hooks. They work fine it just don?t run as deep and lost my role. That is all right my boys have confiscated them. New tub toys, you should have herd my wife last night when they asked if they could sleep with them. Thanks -Corey

Jed, try the aquarium shop they have two things that will help you out. (One) is a back plastic strip for your aquarium top. Just cut holes for all your air hose lines. (Two) they have a plastic rock that attach with suction cups. Place on the glass so they can come out of the water and rest. Provide hiding area like thick weeds or rocks, I also put some floating plants attached to the side with suction cups. When I was a young boy I had an aquarium with crawdads, bass, perch, and bluegill. Fed them Brine Shrimp from a pet store. Or if you are just keeping the crawdads, they eat anything dead on the bottom. Be cautious this will ruin a good tank and kill your fish. Also they will eat your fish if they get a chance. -Corey

Yea, I was also. I had 3 baits I got ready for paint and tested in my aquarium. They sank slowly, but I thought the same way. Once I put the E-Tex on it would sink faster. That was not the result all 3 would float now I put the E-Tex on the lures. Thanks -Corey

Looks good Terry. If you have problem breaks back the crimp up. But you should not have a problem. -Corey

Rich, When I was testing I had one that would sink slowly but when I put the E-Tex on it would float. -Corey

Not trying to turn political on the site, just trying to inform you one candidate is a sportsman and one is not trying to look like one, and is endorsed by PETA. Yes PETA, the ones trying to take our hunting and fishing rights. Just go to the booth informed! Thanks -Corey
-
Sportsmen, please be careful to vote for the candidate, that will side with you on hunting and fishing issues. It is very important one candidate has been described by the National Rifle Association (NRA) as the ?Most Anti-Gun Candidate in U.S. History.? One?s list of anti-gun votes has voted for while in the Senate is too numerous to mention. Double-page advertisements in a number of outdoor magazines, including the November issue of Virginia Game & Fish, depict _____ as ?hunting for your vote,? with a record of ?voting against your gun and hunting rights over 50 times in 20 years.? If we, as gun owners and hunters, are hoping to keep our Second Amendments alive it would behoove us to consider the candidates gun stance when entering the polling booth next Tuesday. I copied some captions from www.nra.org Please Get the facts, and vote for the true Sportsman that will protect your rights. -Corey

I found out my problem. It is the density of the wood. I got some new wood and tried it and it works fine. It was driving me crazy both baits weigh the same one sinks and one floats. Thanks -Corey

out2llunge, I have to disagree, I know someone that was in charge of feeding the fish at the Cobela?s store in Owatonna, MN. They have two muskies, a big female and a male. When they feed them he throws a sucker at the wall. As soon as it hits the wall the male is over before it hits the water. The female will not touch the suckers when she is hungry a 15? walleye will come up missing. So that is her size and choice of food not the bass, cats or any other fish in the aquarium. I have a perch photo finish bait that looks so real in and out of the water and I have fished it so long the finish is coming off. I have never had one hit off the bait. And I have fished it when I could not keep the pike off. As soon as I put it on I just stopped catching the pike. Switched with another bait and the pike were back. This was also a very clear lake. The perch is the only think that would follow and hit it. -Corey

Welcome aboard Craig. Yes that is the stuff you wont! -Corey

Also, you can heat up the lip and bend it. Something like the Rapala Super Shad Rap. If you change the lip occasionally it is going to change the action of the bait. -Corey

Thanks, everyone on all the great input!! I think Art Brush (Shawn) should put Glaucus study in the Knowledge Base. It is something that should not get lost in the old posts. Good job and thanks Glaucus. -Corey

Chip, I see you got your self a real Redneck hat. Traded in you 10 gallon hat on the bunny bomber? I am with Chip and the guy?s More Detail = More $$$$. But, don?t guarantee more fish! I like KISS Keep It Simple Stupid! If detail was so important we would never catch fish with all those hooks dangling off a lure. What attracts fish to hooks? I don?t see any detail in that! Just my $.02. The only time I could see detail is a plus is in soft plastic. Or any thing that you have to work slow and the fish gets a long look. -Corey

When I was at Sams Club got some cookies let the kids eat them and ?OK!!!! I help the kids?. It was a nice plastic container, when you go to the store look around everything has a container. So just pick your self out a treat! -Corey

Welcome Craig. In Minnesota you can get the E-Tex from Menards. Coley is right about turning the baits. This is a very heated topic on the best E-Tex VS Devcon. If you do a search on e-tex you will find lots of good help on how to use it. Both have their advantages and disadvantages, I have tried both and prefer the e-tex. What type of baits are you putting it on? Good luck -Corey

Jed, you always have a worm welcome at my place. I would love to hook you up with a big fat pig (Muskie) . This is the best time of the year. So jump on the plane, I have the boat running! I know the fish you are talking about in the photo of Muskie Hunter. I know the lake and the spot it was caught. It is one of my #1 lakes. -Corey

Congratulations to you and your wife! Jerry, just think 5 more and you have a baseball team. -Corey

Skeeter, I was glad to see you put such good input on this. I bet it was hard not coming back and saying it was the E-tex. I bet you are just shaking like a smoker that has not had a cig in three day. I am just joking Skeeter. I love your work! One of these days we will get you hooked on E-tex. Jed, To me everyday is a learning experience. I don?t think there is a 100% way anybody can fix this problem. Unless you use railroad tie?s or green treat wood. If you do you will create another problem. The only thing you can do is your best on sealing with the topcoat. Then you are going to get those teeth in the bait sooner or later. How long did he have the bait? -Corey
-
Thanks for the help! Tally you are right, last night I was desperate and got tire weights. It took a long time for it to melt down and the fumes it put off. I have another question. If I just put more of the shotgun lead shot in my lures will it work the same? At this point I have the baits at the same over all weight, but the one with the lead shot don?t sink. I don?t care if I have to pay for the lead shot if it works. It is so nice to melt and no fumes. Thanks -Corey

Like Rich said, When you catch a fish and it thrashes around it may just turn it enough that the seal is broken. So now water can get in to the wood and speed up the destruction. If you seen the bait I have in the bait photos where a small 35? or 37? musky twisted my eyehook and straighten the 125lbs split ring. -Corey
-
Chip that is not my musky. I have never kept a musky in my life. I got it off the web so people can see what we are faced with. I bet you get a rude awakening if you try and lip my fish of choice. -Corey
-
Jed, Rich and Nathan is right, pike are the worst lure killers. If you keep putting it back in and out of the water. Soon it will start cracking from the water soaking in the wood and expanding the wood. The only thing you can do is like Husky said, soaking it in a sealer so the entire bait is sealed from water. I don?t care what bait or topcoat you use eventually all topcoats are gong to delaminate sooner or later. The devcon is sooner the e-tex is later. Chip the photo is of a small musky, now you can see why we put three topcoats on. -Corey
-
Rich, I am a member on muskiefirst.com but I have not posted for a long long time. Is that where he said he got your e-mail? -Corey

Callin8s is right, but Tim Hughes/Jeff Thompson is also trying to make money off selling their baits not Bagley?s. -Corey
