I agree Terry..you make a good bait from what I have heard from others in the web circles.... and I really enjoyed the photos of your new lures Quality is also of upmost importance to me..... I dont get them, but regarding the wrinkles.....after the decal has dried, some 400 grit paper will sand them off the edges. Have a good one friend! Take Care! Chip

yah, its under the etex and signed with slightly thinned createx onto a createx painted bait. Envirotex has a trace amount of solvent that causes permanent markers to run. Chip

To keep your signature from running under an envirotex topcoat, do the following: 1. Get an ARTIST PEN AND INK pen from an art supply store and sign you bait with your favorite paint. I use black createx to sign my baits. Here is a createx signature with and artist pen: Take Care!! Chip

You are coming over to the "E" side eh? Cool.... All the problems you mentioned are easily fixed and the cure, craters, bubble, ink run, etc are only problems of the inexperienced. I had the same problems too.... Give me a call or talk to Richoc....We will share some tips with you...... You'll love the stuff! This is one of my Etex baits! YOU'LL LOVE THE STUFF!!! Chip

Yall are making this time consuming with all the steps to prep the lure, glue the image... etc.... I have been making these lures for a couple years.... Use "Water Slide Decal Paper" You can run it through an ink jet, laser, etc..... Just wet them, slide them on and in two minutes, you can coat with your favorite top coat.... I prefer Envirotex. I have made a least 200 of these baits with no failures (Using Envirotex) Here is a link: http://www.kustomrides.com/decalsupplies.htm Search around.. you can find bulk packages cheap.... Yall Take Care! Chip [/url]

Fellers, Fellers, Fellers....... This etex guru just wants to say that I switched from Devcon to Etex after Cracks and surface failures started appearing in the lures I am supplying to my prostaff. They put lures to the test. Since switching entirely to Etex, No Problems....... Each must choose what he is most happy with. The first bait I ever coated with Devcon.... Well...I was so proud of how it came out.... Its a beautiful finish, but after the failures with the prostaff I had to use something else that I found superior.... This new Silane based resin coating I am formulating is pretty promising..... so far, so good... Tough Stuff and I have had them under Excellerated Stability Studies with UV lighting for a month now with no yellowing.... These are intense UV lights! Take Care! Chip

U: The Craws are just masked on through a template that I made. Thaks for asking. Jed... Dont git me wrong... I am just goofin with you devcon devils! LOL . If you are pleased with it, thats whats important. You baits certainly speak for the quality you put into them... Regarding the additive, It a little hardware store off the shelf liquid that is added to the etex to greatly excelerate the dry time. Take Care Chip

DEVCON = GLUE ENVIROTEX = Surface Coating Treatment That Maintains Its flexibility and hardness - My Envirotex is now sprayed on and sets up in 30 to 40 minutes with a little 30% chemical additive .... Thanks Richoh Bottom line is that we should all use what we are comfortable with and learn its characteristics so we are happy with the results..... Chip

When you flame it, the key is "QUICK!". You can also hairdryer the mixing cup from the bottom. When you heat it, most if not all of the bubbles will outgas. Take Care Chip

Here is some more: I used to use this stuff building Giant Scale Remote Control Airplanes. I sprays thin and is impervious to water and gas. Respectfully, Chip

Envirotex-Lite are very good coatings. They are both 2 part epoxies, very clear and glossy. If you warm the epoxy to around 90-100deg(warm water or hair dryer)it will thin down and can be applied with a small brush. If you spread it out over a small area on a piece of stiff plastic or metal it will give you an even longer work time, 40min+. Do not mix or spread it out on cardboard, wood or paper, and don't use a wood stir stick(toothpic, match stick etc.), use plastic or metal only. Use of wood or cardboard will introduce air and contaminates and could adsorb more of one part than the other and give you a bad mix that will not cure right. These coatings will harden to a high gloss and remain flexible so that it doesn't crack easy from impact or sudden changes in temperature and it protects against UV light. You will need to keep the lure rotating so that it doesn't sag or run. (Source Unknown, but this is very accurate information) Thinned Etex will not crack like epoxy as it stays flexible... Thats my story and I'm stickin to it!!! Take Care Chip

Brett: Check out my site.... I make about 20 to 25% wood these days. Much larger profit margin on painted plastics. I typically put out 10 to 60 wood lures a month depending on the customers. I truely love making wood baits but the future is in plastic... LOL I bought several injection molds for plastics and have hired a molder to turn them out in 600 piece/ assembled lots per lure type. ARE YOU REALLY GETTING $100 Canadian (est $70.00 US) for your wood baits? I need some of your customers!!! Heck...I'd work three months and go fishing the next nine if I was selling lures at that price! Take Care!!! Chip

Yes Shawn! The forumula that it is being designed from is being used by terrestrial applications and space agencies for solar electric installations. The main need for space is UV hardness, for terrestrial, it is UV hardness and being water proof. A solar cell is of no value if the sun damages the surface. Thats what got my tinker going on this material for lures.... CatchingConcepts Great info! Just wanted to pass onthat I am not using solvents.. Yall take Care! Chip
