  1. I have been pouring for 14 years and I have used them all....hands down M-F is as clear as you are going to get.
  2. http://www.schubertslures.com/shop/ They have a very extensive color selection and their tubes rock.
  3. They don't really contain lead...where that plant is located it has to claim that because they make other items that do.
  4. I purchased the soft formula and no softener was needed, as I stated above. With only needing 1/3 the salt, the baits remain as if they had no salt in them at all. I have been fishing with them (8" custom stick baits and Dels 7" Stick bait) and the durability is a minimum of twice as strong as our standard mix. I still like the wiggle that Ozark plastic has but the benefits this new M-F sinking plastic has is huge!!!....I think that I'm going to do a blend of 80% M-F sinking and 20% Ozark and see what I get.
  5. I have a slew of Lee pouring pots that I use for my standard baits...but they cant handle the salt content that is required for sticks...lots of clogs. I use Pyrex and the micro but would rather use my Lee's
  6. Well here is the results. Not what I was hoping for...but damn close. Low odor, crystal clear, holds up very well to prolonged heating, awesome hook holding ability, a nice velvety texture, very flexibly, but the sink rate isn't quite as fast as a standard Senko, its about half the rate. I added about 1/3 the amount of salt in order to achieve the proper fall rate and with the higher density of the new plastic I noticed that salt suspends extremely well...to the point that it really just doesn't settle. I then went to the lake for a real test. Fished for about 2 hrs. caught 18 bass and only used 2 sticks....that's about 10 baits saved in one evening another bonus is the baits are clear because I only need 1/3rd the salt...now I can make a real Brown-Grape Outta the box this stuff RULES for drop shot baits....way to many drop shot baits on the market are way too buoyant...and you just don't get the action out of them when the tail of the bait wants to point up to the surface...with this sinking plastic the bait stays perfectly horizontal the way its supposed to for a drop shot bait. I was hoping that this stuff would sink as fast as a Senko so that I could utilize all my existing pouring equipment, but it falls short for that....how ever with all the added benefits listed above its a winner by far and did I mention I didn't use any softener...wasn't needed because of the lack of heavy salt.
  7. I put bolts in my larger colorant bottles and screws in my smaller ones....it makes mixing a breeze.
  8. I just got mine and I cant wait to use it. It would be nice if it works so that I wont have to deal with all the negatives of using heavy salt in my sticks.
  9. I clicked on the link to his web site and it said that it was hacked by Dr.Root... any idea if he knows about it? Thanks Just looking to buy some molds.
  10. Hey stranger...how's the season been? Mine has been awesome so far, been in 25 Tourneys and have received 22 checks and have weighed in fifteen 5+ pounders. The Elgordo is still smacking them up here like crazy....what a sweet bait. That mold looks sweet and it also has plenty of vents...so it should pour like a dream. Get in touch sometime. T
  11. Hi all, I am looking for Del's 7.25, 8.25,9 and 10" sticks so that I can see what I'm getting for a bait when using his molds. I have been trying for 2 years to get a sample of his larger sticks...to no avail. I am NOT looking for free baits...I am just looking to get some so that I can see them before I purchase his molds and I am more then willing to pay for them. His larger stick molds are about $200...and I would really like to see the baits first before dropping $200 a rip for molds. Thanks in advance Tom
  12. I'm not sure how you can obtain it....(trade secrete) but it is used in nuclear reactor cooling systems and some other heat transfer systems.
  13. Here ya go....My buddy has been using it for a few years now. http://www.fishblasterbaits.com/home.html
  14. Jason Cuda owner of Hookerz is a great guy and ships faster then anyone in the U.S. I'm hoping that they come out with a larger Ozmo for 2006.
  15. Oh happy day, I found that if I heat my Calhoun plastic to about 370deg. the bubbles will disappear. This sure beats heating it twice, you just need to wait a bit for it to cool down.
  16. I also added a moisture absorber to my container of plastic.....and besides costing me more money, it confirmed that it is NOT a moisture problem. I am far from a rookie and have been pouring for a long, long, long time and I have never encountered problems like this with other brands. I also had no problems with Calhoun's 1 gallon containers only the 5 gallon container. If it wasn't for Calhoun's being the best when it comes to making stick baits I wouldn't care as much.....but the properties of the Calhoun's makes it a must for sticks. So if there is anyone that wants a deal on my remaining Calhoun plastic give me a shout....if you want a high floating bait this is the stuff. I will unfortunately be looking for another source of plastic that will compare with the Calhoun's one gallon blend. I still like the total absence of replies form the well known supplier.....the avoid it and it will go away attitude. Don't be surprised in loss of sales....there are many lurkers that see this and hopefully will take note...hard earned money is hard earned money and I know that I now have to eat $125.00 worth of foaming crap. Here I am killing myself trying to figure out the problem with the Calhoun plastic and to be honest the supplier should be the one doing the Chemical analyses and other leg work. One more note....You never know just how BIG a company may be when seeing posts on a message board....might be a gallon a year user or maybe 1000+ gallon a year user.....you just never know. NOT addressing the issue may loose you a cash cow.
  17. The key word "eat" was asked in the original question. As far as a baits action its a no brainer when it comes to salt. Some baits need to be buoyant, some need to sink and some need to be neutral. Salt is a wonderful additive for changing the action, buoyancy and appearance of a bait. Now back to the original question ...does salt make Bass actually eat the bait....I have seen it with my own eyes and all I can say is i now have at least a pinch in all that is poured:)
  18. Proof is in the pudding......Salted baits (the ones with salt in them) without question will have any species of fish hold onto longer. I have access to tanks with many different types of fresh water fish in them...using Gelatin mixed with salt we made several worms craws then made the same baits without any salt. We then tossed equal amounts of baits in at once and low and behold the last ones standing were some of the unsalted ones. While the fish did consume a majority of the unsalted ones, we noticed that if the fish hit the salted bait it was never to be seen again and the unsalted baits that were consumed, were only eaten when there was a feeding fight between two fish. This tank of fish was purposely starved for 10 days to do this test so when we added the baits it was a violent feeding frenzy and the fall rate was not a factor....they blasted them as soon as they hit the water.
  19. I have been happily dealing with Bob from Bob's Tackle Shack and he is great!!! I cant say enough good things about the quality of his work and his generosity.
  20. I think its funny how the person who I purchased my Calhouns from has yet to reply to this thread ....He has replied to many other threads, but not this one. Its typical, that's why I haven't bitched more personally to him. Customer service should be # 1 and it is if your spending money ...but if you spent the money and have problems ....its never addressed, at least not publicly when he should be. I know its not his problem that there IS a problem with the Calhouns plastic...but to avoid it publicly doesn't speak well for his co. and that's much worse then him having a small problem with his plastic supplier. Even if none of the defective product gets replaced it would be nice to see a reply saying we are working on it and please be patient until its rectified....some shipments are good and others are bad....it gets blamed on moisture ...LOL
  21. You don't have to worry....I have been using M-F since 1999 and it hasn't changed one bit
  22. Glad to see this thread back. I was bummed when I seen it disappear...The M-F people are some of the nicest people around and are a valuable asset to our passion.
