  1. Try the freezer bags in the same grocery store aisle as the sandwich bags. They are thicker plastic and have that white area that you can write on.
  2. Take a look at UltraCal30. It is a plaster with Portland cement mixed in.
  3. Take a look at US Patent 7627979 and it will be obvious that ABT is not going to get their patent.
  4. MF is my preferred plastic. Doesn't settle, doesn't burn under 350, doesn't smoke worse than any others ( I have a nice ventilation system) and the baits are buoyant.
  5. I doubt it. I have heard a number of times that Huddleston aggressively pursues patent infringements.
  6. Bob - If you only had one day of discomfort, you weren't suffering from withdrawal. My wife has had a lot of medical issues and has gone through withdrawal several times. If her withdrawal was only 1 day, my house would be a much happier place.
  7. The rule of thumb is hard master, soft mold and soft master, hard mold.
  8. Yes, Salt will stiffen the bait.
  9. Take it up above 350F and you should see some bleeding.
  10. Thanks for the quick reply. I sent them an email.
  11. I hand pour and lay my baits out on 12 x 12 granite tiles from Home Depot. The open side of the bait sticks to the smooth surface of the granite and holds the shape till it cures.
  12. I get at 404 error when I try to get on.
  13. What is RTV thinner? I have some Oomoo 25 that is a year + old. Part B seems okay but part A has gotten thick, if you press on it with your finger it moves. Kind of like pizza dough in a plastic bag. Will the thinner restore the part A?
  14. I pour over the top as well. If you find the plastic is running out of the mold and creating flash, try lowering the temperature. I pour around 310.
  15. A range hood does not begin to flow enough air. Get at least 1000 FPM.
  16. This is pretty close to my set up. I removed a window, close the opening with plywood and put a gable end fan from Home Depot in the plywood. I never smell a thing and when I am pouring, any smoke coming off the plastic moves towards the fan immediately. There is an arborvitae growing in front of the area and it does not show any discoloration even though I can see the fan moving the foliage.
  17. Mike - what is your source for this pigment? I like to play around with some custom colors.
  18. I see a couple of things wrong here. All the anise extract I have seen in the grocery stores has water and alcohol in it. I am surprised you didn't have trouble with the plastic bubbling and even popping from the water in it. The alcohol may be what is making the colors fade. Regarding table salt, the iodine in the salt is what you don't want. I don't remember exactly what it does but I think it affects the colors and not the plastic.
  19. I am committed to hand pouring baits using the traditional open face mold. I pour both large and small baits with ribbon style tails and get plenty of action. The only bait that has disappointed me is the Zoom type lizard style. The legs don't get the movement I want. I will have to try Mark's suggestion to use a silicone cup. But take a Del's 10 inch curl tail and swim that back to the boat and you will see lots of action. And, the heavier weight of the tail displaces more water so there is more lateral line stimulation in the water. Don't get caught up in Kalin's advertising hype regarding their thin tail.
  20. My pot says 10.8 amps and 1300 watts at 120v. At 220 volts, the amps get cut in half but the thermometer is not sized for 220v so you will need a step down transformer to handle the 10.8amps and 1300 watts.
  21. The first thing you need to do is find out if the bag manufacturer you are considering will use your art work. Contact them and see what program they use and if they will take your artwork instead. They probably will still want a setup charge for the internal work that has to be done. You won't be able to send them a file and they just "dump it" into their computer and are good to go.
  22. I use Oomoo25 from Smooth-on. Its about 30 bucks for a trial size. You don't need a mold release for making a rtv mold from a plastic master but if the master is not shiny, you can spray some Pam on it to get it "glossy"
  23. I agree with the previous two posts. Even if you have my recipe, the results you get will probably be different than the results I get. My drop is different than your drop. The colorents vary between manufacturers, the salt is different. Like the previous post said, keep experimenting and it will come to you.
