    Tomato Craw

Thanks guys, your comments means a lot.
  5. Nice job, I like big shallow water baits. I also like the color.
  6. Trust the guys that says the G10 will wear down on rocks. I build baits with g10 but I also know it does wear faster than polycarbonate. That’s just a trade off for the desired traits of the material. I don’t think they said it was bad…
  7. Yes the bait does have a color flair on the back. Its just really hard to get it to shaow in a photo. If you look at the shoulders you will see a violet/blue color. It goes down the entire back of the bait. It will flop from violet to blue to yellow in the sunlight.

    New from the shop

Nice work Dwain!!! I like the white lips.
  9. I am not a guru but I do tend to overbuild just like most of the other custom guys. Your right about the bond with regular glue is stronger than the wood fibers but the expanding glues also penetrate into the wood fibers a little more. This further reinforces the integrity of the bait without adding much weight to the bait. Think of it as a backbone for the bait, between the wire and the glue the bait is much stronger. Also the polyurethane glues cure faster than most of the yellow wood glues which is another positive for me.

Nice work Dean, Guys pictures just dont do these baits justice, you should see them up close to really see what they look like.
  11. I use expanding polyurethane glues like gorilla glue. It will expand out of the laminated seam. I just trim it flush with a razor and sand the area smooth.

    Shiny Shad, 3 inch

I am liking that, Nice work on the foil. I like that better than the white bellys on that color.

    shallow and mid depth

    Really nice looking baits
  15. I agree with hazmail, vinigar is an acid and it could do more damage than good in the long run. If you are using water based paints regular blue windex will work great at cleaning your brush.
  16. I think the main reason that Circuit board dives sharper is because its about half the thickness of polycarbonate. Most bass sized baits use 1/16" polycarbonate and the circuit board used the most is about 1/32". Its the sharper leading edge that improves diving.
  17. Anyone going to the FLW Championship next month. I will be there from the 2nd - 5th and thought it would be nice to meet other TU members if they attend the championship.
  18. I use a Badger 175, 150, and 100.
  19. I am glad to see others working on swimmers also. I havent made one yet but it has been on my mind for quite a while now. I also think that if you are getting a good walk the dog action from it I would leave it alone. It could also be used for deadsticking and twitch it to get the movement every now and then. BTW nice job on the bait, it looks great.
  20. I have filled lip slots with epoxy and then re-cut the slot. I use tape to dam the sides of the slot and then fill with epoxy and let it cure before removing the tape. If you do a good job with the tape you won’t have a lot of sanding and shaping to get it looking good. I recently reworked a risto rap and installed a shallow lip to make a wake bait by filling the lip slot and re-cutting a new slot.
