  1. Way to go Nathan!!! He makes some great baits. I have his rodent bait and I must say he is at the top of his class. With the big swimbait craze going right now I bet he is getting busy with his custom baits. I hope we get to meet soon. I have been close to meeting him a couple of times but we always manage to miss out. Maybe this year I can put a face to the name.
  2. Yep, that was the first Iwata I tryed out. I guess one of these days I may buy one but the badgers are still working fine for now. I do here here the lake calling...

    Balsa walker

I like it, nice work on the foil and the paint.
  4. Dean you are truly funny my friend but I feel there are members here with greater talent than me. I do owe TU and its members a huge thank you. This is the site that got me started in this hobby/addiction of mine. I just hope that I am able to return the favor someday. Thank you Red Gator for making such a great sight and Thank you to all the contributing members, (Many of which I now call FRIENDS!)

    Balsa WWS

Its a semi round bait from 3/4" stock. I guess you could say it has a oval cross section. I have made this bait for awhile I just never posted any pics of it.

    Deep BC

Thanks guys, I am very happy with this bait. I took it out for a good testing last weekend on some deep brush piles. First fish was 6 pounds 6 ounces, what a way to break in a new bait.

    Deep BC

5" over all length and 1/2" wide. Its made from cedar and weighted to the max. It doesnt sink but its not far from suspending.
  10. Kat, Southaven is just south of Memphis on I-55. Its close to Horn Lake and Olive Branch.
  11. KcDano hit the nail with his answer. Thats how I check baits also and it works great.
  12. dicknights clear top coat
  13. I think you need to talk to Nathan. He is a member here and he makes a killer rat bait. I think he also makes a bigger version of the bait. I would talk to him if you are serious about a muskrat bait.

    FLW Magazine

The first was in the Jan-Feb '07 and the second was in the May-June '07 edition.
  15. I use green and a touch of brown, you can adjust the tone with gray and white if needed.
  16. I agree with Tally. If its a suspending bait you have to watch what you are doing or it WILL SINK.
  17. I do the same thing and I think most of the others also do this. Unless you are makeing large numbers of baits this is the way to go.
  18. Hobby Lobby 40% off coupon. http://www.hobbylobby.com/site3/weekly/coupons/2007week16.gif With the discount you can get the Iwata HP-BCS Eclipse Airbrush for about $80.00 Paasche VL-Set Airbrush Set for around $60.00 with the Discount. I have never used this brush but many people do and they say they like them.
  19. I use Badger brushes for all of my painting. I have a 100, 150, and a 175. All three have there place in my work area. The 175 is the workhorse of the three. I have also used Iwata brushes and they are nice brushes. They atomize water color paint well and the pattern is uniform. When I buy another brush I am really going to consider an Iwata gravity feed. I also agree with dampeoples, when you need parts you may have trouble finding them. The suggestion about the discount coupons is another good one. Keep an eye on Hobby Lobby and there website. They will offer a 40% off storewide coupon from time to time. They carry Iwata and Badger so you can get a good deal on a good brush.

  21. Thanks everyone, I had a great birthday and I look foward to many, many more... rjbass, I didnt go this weekend, I had a airbrush in my hands most of the weekend.
  22. Pikeman the bubbles in the epoxy topcoat is in the epoxy itself. The air is bubbles are from mixing the epoxy and possably from the brushing. Mixing slow to prevent the mixing of air will help. Brushing the epoxy on in one direction will help remove the air bubbles. Breahing on the epoxy like you were going to clean your glasses will help. I really dont like to use a lot of heat to remove the bubbles.
