  1. Nice first post TopH2o. Welcome to the site
  2. Good idea B&B Guess I am going to dig around in the shop now.
  3. I wish I could make it, maybe next year. If Coley?s cooking is as good as Genes I know its GOOD!
  4. Congratulations Kelly and Sporilla, glad you guys are getting the recognition yall deserve. That also goes to you JT, Good job buddy! The custom guys are starting to make a big show at the big tournaments these days
  5. I think everything you are asking about is posted on the site. Do a search and you should find everything you need?
  6. It sets the hook deeper in that lure making addiction that we all have?
  7. Good read Blades and I believe class has just started? All of these guys posting above are the real deal, I would definitely listen to anything they have to say. What Tally said about the Search will result in a Gold Mine of knowledge. Just about everything you need to know is already somewhere on this site. With that said, don?t be scared to ask questions if you can?t find something. There are some extremely knowledgeable people here.
  8. Sound advice above, and like Hoodaddy stated you don?t need to sand Createx between coats. Also try flash drying it with a hair dryer, you will actually see the shiny gloss of the wet paint turn dull when it?s dry. You can then spray your next color. Another tip? several light coats of paint is always better than one heavy coat of paint.
  9. I 2nd the fact that Coley makes a great bait. I have a few of his baits also.
  10. The way I feel is if you are going to make a handmade bait it should be right from the start. So take your time and continue like your going and be sure to put a topcoat on your baits. Quality handmade baits takes time to make right so don?t get in a huge hurry like your buddy.
  11. The bars are done with a stencil over the netting. I use regular Createx and a devcon topcoat.
  12. Nice post Blades, I wish I knew the answer :
  13. I don?t think the polyurethane you can get at Wal-Mart or a hardware store will be as tough as an epoxy.
  14. Man I like that !!! What kind of lighting to you have in it?
  15. Maybe Ikes new job will be with the WWF, since he already acts like them? I am glad Ranger made a stand and done something. I wouldn?t be surprised if Yamaha and Toyota don?t do the same.
  16. Yall have fun. Wish I could make it...
  17. I have a badger 250 that gets used from time to time. It sprays Createx with no problems. I personally like a gravity feed brush. The can air will work but is a little high. But if that?s all you have for now it will work, I have used it at times when I was in a crunch and didn?t have a compressor accessible.
  18. I would suggest using lead just for the simple fact you can drill it out much easer if you need to make adjustments to the weight.
  19. Try wiping as much as you can with a dry cloth if the detail paint is still wet. Then if any is left a lightly damp cloth should remove the rest. Sounds like your using too much water to clean up.
  20. I didn?t mean to sound insulting if I did. I mark the center line with a L.S. Starrett Combination Square (has increments to the 64th of an inch). I set it to the depth I need and mark the center line all the way around the bait. http://www.toolingu.com/bookstore/item_info.aspx?item_ID=53
  21. I mark centers and drilling angles before any shaping is done. Once the bait is cut out I trace the center line completely around the bait. To find center, measure the thickness and divide it by two. Example? if the bait is ?? thick the center would be ??.
  22. That?s great Blades. Glad to see him in the shop with dad. It beats sitting in front of the TV playing games. I think I am going to have one of those little helpers myself. He?s almost two and I have to be very careful where I place my baits. He loves holding them and playing with them. I have some with the hooks removed just for him to play with. Good looking kid Blades, so how long will it be before the student becomes the teacher?
  23. I don?t own an Iwata eclipse but I have used one. Fine working airbrush IMO! Don?t think you can go wrong with it.
