  1. I haven't made any bondo ones yet but I have a few I made from plaster of paris that work perfectly. They seem to inject easy as the pop stays nice and warm. Only downside is being careful with the injector, it can damage the mold easy. Bondo should work very well... Jim
  2. The mask stopped mine Richard. I guess the chemicals were causing it! Listen to Richard guys, he knows first hand!!!! Jim
  3. I have tried the green and it still gave me a headache. Of course, that could just be me. It is over 100 here and heat indexes well over 110. Glad the shop has AC as I used to work in the garage and it is probably 120 out there.... :-( Jim
  4. If my wife enters the shop, her airway closes (reactive asthma) and she can't breath. The smoke is toxic to us for sure and definitely can cause throat irritation. Exhaust fan and mask should be used at all times in my opinion. Read the MSDS for further information. Jim
  5. Mold has been sold. Perfect transaction! Individual WILL receive mold and I DID NOT force them to buy it for $15.00. LOL!!!!! Jim
  6. Go forward.... With such a great cause behind you, you will succeed!!!! Have faith along the way! In my opionion, I would buy the baits in the beginning and learn to paint them. Hot lead and kids DO NOT mix for sure. Maybe you can grow into making your own after getting your feet wet. Look for Ted (Cadman) here on TU and see if he can help you with jigs or spinnerbaits. If not, put a wanted ad up. Just my 2 cents!! Jim
  7. This is a 2 cavity 1 piece aluminum mold. The length of the bait is 3 1/2". Retails for $39.00 I am asking $15 + $5 shipping. Paypal please. This is a tougher one to pour. Want to get that out there so there are no complaints later. Not impossible though and I have poured many 2 and 3 color baits in it. Just takes practice and a steady hand. Jim Disclaimer (for those that need one, you know who you are (T-B, FG, etc)): I DID NOT make this mold! It is from Bob at Bobstackleshack. You WILL receive this mold if you purchase it! I AM NOT forcing anyone to pay me any price for this mold!!!! I AM a reputable person and so is my company. If you DO NOT want this mold, DO NOT buy it!
  8. I believe there are some on eBay right now. Search molds under fishing... Jim
  9. They all will either have to go up or eat the price increase in-house. All will be effected and especially smaller companies. There is some "experimentation" going on and I may have some samples to report on soon. Not to exciting as I have heard what Mike reported. Far more "oily" baits out of the mold..... Jim
  10. Can't do all molds though. Only hand pours with split cup. I'll post up some I have tried in Gallery tomorrow.... Jim
  11. You can get somewhat of a swirl by making the 2 colors seperate and then slowly pouring them into a cup. Then use your injector and suck up the plastic and inject. You can only get a decent shot on the first run so don't make to much plastic. Even this way, the swirls are still so-so... Nowhere as good as a split cup and hand pouring the bait. Just can't hand pour all molds though... Jim
  12. Oops... Your right Craig!!!!! Trademarking is for the names such as "Trickworm". I was told to copyright my rigging instructions on my baits to help others from expalining how to use the baits in writing. I could not afford to patent or defend a patent on the bait itself. Good advise from a patent professional. Jim
  13. First "On the water" trials were very successful... This is the prize of the day... 7.90. A pb for me flippin. 5 best went 18+. Jim
  14. Chigger craw is currently part of the suit brought by NetBait. NetBait claims that the Chigger craw (and roughly 16 other baits) infringe upon NetBaits patent. If you read the patents well (I still do not understand all I read most of the time), it is rarely the whole bait that has been patented. Mostly it is a portion of the bait. Easiest one to mention is the end of the Zoom Ultravibe speed craw, Horny toad legs and ultravibe speed worm. The end area is the only potion patented. Also, many baits have the particular action they impart patented as well. Many overlook this side of the patent and can get in hot water quick. Copyright infringement with names etc is another whole big deal. You will get as cease and desist letter prior to most actions being taken against you or your company in either case. Jim
  15. Thanks Matt. I am just going to take the guides off as it is a decent rod. Worth the effort and it will be something new for me to play with!! Jim
  16. Not sure what you call the thing that tightens your reel down in the reel seat but mine cracked and stripped. Reel gets loose in minutes. Any options available? I thought about using one of those plastic ties like you see on the rod/reels at Walmart but hate to have to keep changing those out when I change reels. Also looked at taking the existing one off but the lirst line guide from the reel is large and without cutting or splitting, the tightener will not fit over guide. Jim
  17. Check Del-mart.com. He has a VERY similar mold. You may also be able to see Del's vent lines. Jim
  18. Agreed. It looks as though the port that deliver the plastic would have to be on the side of the mold at the end of the mold. Just speculation though. I guess a mold could be made with 2 cavities and 2 ports. Fill one side, flip mold around and fill the other side. Just thinking out loud.... Jim
  19. I never watched the last video Frank. Maybe he did plan on that. I was mostly interested in how a laminate might work in a multi-cavity mold, especially past 3 cavities. I am sure that 1 cavity molds will be the way to go until the bugs get worked out. I never go to Bear's site so maybe these answers are even on his forum. I got an email from a friend with the video links from You Tube. Jim
  20. I was more wondering about the port at the end of the mold and having multiple cavities (ie 10/20 cavities). Seems the lamination process would not be as efficient as if the port was moved to the center of the mold. Hate to have to buy 100 single cavity molds vs 10-10 cavity molds. I am sure they have thought all that through though. The design seems very well thought out. Jim
  21. I wonder if multiple cavtiy molds will become available. Pricing sure is right on these machines!!!! Jim
  22. WOW!!!!!! Looks good!!!! Start saving those nickels for machine and LOTS of molds!!!!! Jim
  23. You can also use popcorn salt for testing your colors and getting them more opaque. While it is a bit more expensive than what you can buy from the mold suppliers, it is fine in size and can be ground or flaked easily. Walmart carries it in their Spice isle and it is in a blue small container. Jim PS Remember if you use salt, you will have to use even more colorant. Salt will lighten your colors up.
  24. Dougs scents are all oil based I believe and can be added into your hot plastic with no issue at all. I would review the product you bought on his site as he outlines the uses well. If not, drop him a note, he is a great guy! Jim
