  1. LOL! To be clear, I have had one shatter on my hot plate when I put it there directly PRIOR to heating the cup and plastic in the microwave. It was room temp or cooler. I have not had an issue with the cup or beaker on my hot plate if the cup has already been heated in the mic. My hot plate is electric and is similar to Frank's in that the heating element is under the surface and not directly touching the cup itself. Jim
  2. I would NOT have water around my hot plastic for sure. I get where you are going but as Frank demonstrated in his photos, my pyrex sits on a griddle just fine without shattering. It is sudden swings in temp that cause the cup to break. Like putting that hot cup on a cool surface or visa versa. Lets face it, the bottom is already over 300+ degrees with the plastic in it. Jim
  3. There have been studies proving just that Patrick. A larger eye is something fish respond to in hunting their prey. You might ask for samples in both sizes as an eye that is just to big for the socket will probably slip around under the dipped plastic and may come out of the socket. Might just ask your mold maker to enlarge the eye socket slightly to 10mm.. Jim
  4. Safe travels my friend. I leave on the 8th of July for Northern WI for 2 weks. Gonna meet a long time friend from this board and just whack some smallies with my son and my nephews. Passing on the fishing bug is important! I'll bring some supplies with though... Maybe this topic should be "living to pour" for me!!!! LOL!!! Enjoy Gary! Jim
  5. Man, I can't even do multiplication anymore!!!! Thanks Gary! Now you see why I am taking a break and enjoying the summer! Jim
  6. Dinosaurs??? Oh yeah, what were we talking about again??? LOL!!! The drill seems to be the ticket Craig. I am going to rework one that I have I can try on and see. Just will have to take it realy easy as the sprue is not deep and if you cut into the actual opening in the mold, you won't have an area to cut off the sprue easily. It will be one big 5/8" piece of plastic attached to the nose of your frog... Jim
  7. Sorry Craig.... I wish it was so. Might be able to send them back to Bob or Del for some work to make them adaptable. I am in the same boat with you.... Not sure whether to jump ship on the old molds or have them re-worked. Maybe someone else has gotten them to work but the adapter is made to specifically fit the 5/8" opening and the frog molds especially have a weird opening. Even using the regular injector and placing it on top of the mold is somewhat dicey. I can fill most molds by just gently pushing but have had a little squirt back at me once. Operator error though! A small rtv adapter works OK (thanks Dave!!!) but for the laminates I don't think it would work. Just me though... Maybe someone else out there has had a different experience. Jim
  8. Thanks Frank. I was just curious more than anything!!! Jim
  9. Frank: Can you also comment on approx how long it took to make 96 baits with this 4 cavity mold? Just curious... Jim
  10. I'd like the 4.75" twitchy minnow mold please. What is your paypal id? Jim
  11. Simple.... Quality is always better than lower priced, inferior quality baits!!!! Jim
  12. Good pics and resulting baits Frank. Another quick question... What do you have your griddle set on? 250-275??? I like that new bait. Kevin is working on one very similar to that for me. Awesome to flip! Jim
  13. My guess is this relates to flipping and using the straight shank hooks. You have to have something to prevent (rebarb) your bait from sliding down the hook. The shrink wrap will help hold the bait in place due to the way the bait is rigged. "Prefer using straight shank hooks but your sick and tired of your bait sliding off with even the slights of ticks. Then the Reaction Innovations BMF Barb is made for you. This little piece of plactic may seem simple in design but it does an amazing job of keeping your bait pinned to your favorite hook. Combine the BMF, Bad Mother Flipping, Barb with the Reaction Innovations BMF Hook or the ultimate flipping combo." I am trying out different tubing now. I will let you know if I find anything. Please report back if you do! Jim
  14. Dave: I fish the Kappu version and like it a lot. The Gamakatsu was not as nice. Tungsten heads on the Kappu version sold me. They are pricey though. I like just reeling down on the fish and never really setting the hook. Rare to miss a fish! Jim
  15. All of the sponsors have kits. Bears baits and www.basstackle.com and www.del-mart.com. As long as the kit offers you the mold you want or you can choose, this is a good way to start. Jim
  16. I do it as Richard mentioned and can get them almost exact without opening and cutting. It is way faster and just takes a little practice. Also, if you look to make lots and want them perfect every time, head over to www.basstackle.com. They have molds with a slider bar that allows for injection of the tail one color and injection of the body another. Del-mart.com has these molds as well. Jim
  17. That is how they do it.... Just make sure that second color is good and hot or they will not bind well. Jim
  18. PS You can also use an old toothbrush (or the wife's...LOL) with a little WD-40..... Jim

    Glitter ?

Stir plastic WELL prior to adding your flake! It will even out the hot spots for you. Purple is a flake that bleeds well, especially in the microwave!! Don't forget about SenkoSam's flake.... Jim
  21. You might try pouring hot plastic in them. Whatever is on there may bond to the plastic and you will have it gone with a pour or 2. Jim
  22. Horny toad will be hard to find as it infringes on Zoom patent. Try Bears, www.basstackle.com, www.bobstacklesahck.com or www.del-mart.com Jim
  23. Nope... Just send me your address. Its on me.. I'll ship it out in the am.... Jim
  24. OK... If I could find the mold, I'd make more... To much plastic on the brain I guess!!! Jim
