  1. A talented, creative bait and mold designer named Zach Alter that Bob gives credit to on many of molds you see on Bob's site. Of course, mold and bait design are not his primary "real" job. Just using his creativity to add to this site and the molds available to anglers around the world... Yet to see a bait, mold or constructive idea comment from the likes of "some" that post ... My ..... Jim
  2. I think if you look at the aluminum and RTV molds available, most are patterned from (or exact copies of), the most popular baits out there. While it is good to create new baits like Big Z and Bob, Del and certainly Machinist has, most anglers want tried and true designs so those are the molds that many hand pour/injection companies want. As long as there is no patent infringement, each manufacturer and individual should, and can, make whatever molds they deem the market desires. Jim
  3. I think others may be wondering after you dip the whole thing, how to get your knife and tail piece out as they are now inside the bait. I know I am still wondering as I read the steps. I haven't tried to make a bait yet though so the steps may make sense when you are actually doing the dips. Jim
  4. I decided up front not to charge extra for special pours or laminates. Also decided that there would be no minumum bags required. The main reason was that I like do the more challenging pours. Sure they take a little longer but they also further your abilities and make you look at other color possibilities. You will also see that those that request the multi-color pours will be interested in some green pumpkin or junebug and will order a few more bags of baits on that side as well. Have fun Saint!! Jim

Great color Swamp!!! This is by far my favorite drop shot bait!!! Jim
  6. GREAT ADVICE!!! If you use some "fresh" plastic and heat it to liquid, add your re-melts in smaller pieces, your color will hold a lot better!! Thanks Saint!!! Jim
  7. I will be listing a 4.2 beaver mold in the classified section tomorrow if interested. You can save some bucks but the amount is minimal if you factor in your time and you pay yourself 1/2 of what you think you are worth... Supplies, etc are not your major cost as with any product...It's the labor IMHO!!!! Jim
  8. I fish a wacky rig A LOT... The best hook I have found is the 2/0 shiner hook from Gamakatsu... I use stick baits a lot but designed a sweet little 3" bait that really catches a bunch of fish!!! Toss your bait out and let it fall. If you don't get bit (I watch my line close), lift your rod AFTER counting to 10 and let the bait fall one more time. As previously stated, you usually get bit on the fall but sometimes that stillness then movement causes a strike. Have fun!!!! Jim

    RB trout....

I do have some pearl pink but have not tried it YET... Good thought as it did not enter my mind. The "pink" vein has some good highlight to it as I use some M-F Earthworm in the color.. Still working on packaging...Worst part to me!!! Not on my site yet Dwain but real soon. They are almost 5" long and about 1" fat. I haven't weighed them but guess 1oz or a little better. I can't wait to get on the right water to throw these as they are going to produce NO DOUBT!!! Thanks Nil!!! Hard to believe a bait could re-energize you on your "hobby" but this one has done it for me.. I am working on a crappie and still not completely satisfied with my bluegill... Just me though as we are our own worst critics... Jim

    RB trout....

Not the best picture as I have my older camera. I will take a better shot after lunch today. This is the most fun I have had pouring in a while!! Jim
  11. OK then.......I am taking my "toys" and going home!!! I don't want to play anymore!! Jim
  12. I will post it in the a.m. Shane. I've taken up enough of your post so I'll put it in the gallery... Might have a decent bluegill also.... Jim
  13. Yes. I have seen Javier's... They rock as always!! It is a hurry up and pour, then wait deal. Just like everything else, you get a rythem! I really like doing them and that baby bass was my first try. Bad part is you have a LOT of plastic when you "practice" and since there is more than one color, you can't really re-melt and try again... PS Here is one of my shad's... Jim
  14. My bad but Shane is OK.... I took care of him!!!! Jim
  15. Thanks all...the trout is really my favorite though. Never knew swims would be that much fun to pour!!! A lot of patience though..Hurry up, then wait!!! I might jump in the swap and offer up swim baits!!! Jim

    Shell Cracker

WOW JT!!!! That has to be one of the best bluegill patterns I have seen. Sure the photo doesn't do it justice though!!! Jim
  17. I like flipping them things too. I was looking at one just a little while ago and i am not sure it would work even with vents all over. The thin parts that connect to the body might clog before the claws fill. I might have to try to make one just to see if I can!! Jim
  18. True...easiest thing would be to just not worry about the "tube" area and let it fill up. Sure you could do it with enough vents... Jim
  19. And many moooore!!! Have a great one Nil!!! Jim
  20. I'm sure if you made the mold right and vented the claws, you could make a nice 2 piece pop mold. Not sure about the hollow inside though.. Hmmmm.... Jim
  21. Thanks guys!! Hope the fish think so also!! The trout is a better color to me along with shad colors but the BB is good looking and fun to pour! I've done a few variations on it with gold flake in the belly area and a few gold flakes in the top also. Looks good any way it seems.. Jim PS Custom mold......
  22. Here is a picture of one of the baby bass I did recently Shane. I realize the photo is not that great but you get the idea. Craig is right on!!! Watermelon back, pearl white or clear with holo flakes belly and a dark smoke lateral line... Jim
  23. I haven't really had much of a problem with bleeding and just a little curling in the .062 and larger flake. Seems it must be what "lot" you ended up with. I use the larger black almost every day and have very few problems with it. The stuff I have came from LC. The larger gold I use at least a few times a week. Never seems to bleed but after a few re-heats, I can see some curling. It is LC flake also. I think if you watch your re-heats and stir a lot while re-heating, you will see less flake bleed and curl. Del may have hit part of the issue right on the head. Any flake on the bottom of you cup is really getting blasted with heat as it is right on the glass (assuming pyrex type cups here). The larger flake falls even faster so keeping that flake in suspension and off the cup is vital!! Especially when you are doing multiple re-heats.. Guess more molds is the solution so that you don't have to re-heat your plastic... :-) Jim
